Archie’s Campaign Update

With all the help from Waggle's amazing donors, Archie made a FULL recovery from Parvo. He was so, so sick, he really needed to be hospitalized and have round-the-clock care or his sweet little self would not have made it. Lucky Lab was really sweating it, between worrying if Archie was going to live and if our nonprofit rescue could pay the bill it was a real nail-biter. Thank you Waggle for another job well done and case closed. Another dog who is now well and will soon be up for adoption thanks to your love and help!

Please consider joining the Waggle Foundation's FurEver Fund to set up a recurring donation to help save many more pets' lives. This will enable our nonprofit to build a strong and reliable safety net for animals in crisis and desperately in need of a second chance. This substantially improves the odds that every dog or cat will receive the treatment they need to save their life—and simply put, that is Waggle's mission.

Archie’s story

Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption got a frantic call from a woman who helps run an animal control facility in Southern Texas. "The shelter is full, and two puppies are at risk of being euthanized for space!" Soon after, the rescue's volunteers sprang into action and raced to save Puppy Archie, a yellow Lab, and his sister Edith, a black Lab.

A fabulous foster offered to take the pups in, and a volunteer network of drivers assembled to get them from South Texas to their foster home in Houston. The rescue thought the worst was over, but soon after Archie and Edith arrived at their foster home, their lives were on the line again.

"Within 36 hours, Archie had gone downhill fast," Stephanie B., the rescue group's Houston manager, tells Waggle. "He was lethargic, not eating and running a high fever. He was rushed to the veterinarian where we found out he was positive for the Parvovirus, had giardia, and possible Distemper." Edith was also ill with the virus.

Then another rescue mission ensued: Both puppies had to be hustled over to BluePearl animal hospital for 24-hour emergency care, including antibiotics, fluids, and medications to help settle their stomachs. Hospilitizing two puppies will help save their lives -- but Lucky Lab is desperately trying to raise the money to pay for their medical care. The rescue has been inundated lately with wonderful dogs who end up in shelters through no fault of their own. People still think that the "pandemic puppy" rush to adopt craze is still happening, but that is long over. Shelters are filling up with animals again, and when the shelters are full, some are euthanizing to make space in the kennels. Rescues need help.

Please help poor Archie fight Parvo! With your help, Lucky Lab is confident a wonderful forever home is in his future when he recovers!
