About this campaign

We are currently fighting for four heartworm-positive dogs in our rescue… and we desperately need help to save them. When we rescue, we say yes to the dog in front of us regardless of the costs ahead. These are the unforeseen expenses that come with saving lives. But this case is different. We cannot take in anymore animals until heartworm treatment is funded

Heartworm disease is not “just worms.” It is a slow, devastating, and often fatal disease caused by parasites transmitted through a single mosquito bite. As the disease progresses, dogs begin to cough and struggle to breathe. They become lethargic because their organs are literally being starved of oxygen. Fluid can build up in the lungs. The heart enlarges. In severe cases, worms flood the heart chambers causing sudden collapse, organ failure, and death.

Untreated heartworm disease is agonizing, deadly, and so difficult to watch.

And the heartbreaking truth? It is almost entirely preventable. A simple, monthly prevention costing far less than a dollar a day can protect a dog for life. But without prevention… this is what happens.

Now four of our dogs are facing this battle.

Peanut — discarded by a backyard breeder when she was no longer profitable. Her puppies arrived to us covered in mange, and once she could no longer produce income, she was thrown away.

Astrid — tied to a pole in freezing temperatures. Emaciated. Skin and bones. Terrified.

Stella — a beautiful German Shepard tied up and left outside to fend for herself.

And Cleveland — one of our Texas dogs, dumped in a field like trash.

Every single one of them tested positive for heartworm disease.

Treatment is not simple. It requires months of strict rest and a series of injections that kill the worms slowly so they don’t break loose and cause fatal blockages. It is expensive — between $1,000–$1,500 per dog — but it is vital. Without it, they will suffer. Without it, they will die.

With it… they get a chance.

A chance to run without struggling to breathe.

A chance to live without parasites destroying their heart.

A chance at a forever home.

If you can donate toward their medical care, please do. No amount is too small. Every single dollar brings them closer to being healthy, adoptable, and safe. They were failed once. Please help us make sure they are never failed again.
