Danny
Danny Was Found Suffering and Needs Veterinary Care

Life outdoors had already taken its toll on this community cat when he arrived in one of Gatos Borincoon’s trapping areas in visibly poor condition. The rescue named him Danny, and it was immediately clear that he needed more than routine TNVR care. His skin and coat showed signs of a severe parasitic condition believed to be caused by mites, scabies, or potentially both, leaving this boy desperately in need of treatment and relief. Rather than simply neutering and returning him, Gatos Borincoon made sure Danny received the additional veterinary attention he needed. He was neutered and vaccinated and treated with Revolution Plus for parasites and Convenia to help address infection concerns. His initial veterinary care has already totaled $141.50, but this is only the beginning of what Danny will need. As his skin begins to heal, Danny will return for additional care. His rescue plans to have him dewormed and tested for FeLV and FIV. If he tests negative for FeLV, he will also receive the FeLV vaccine before any decision is made about returning him to his outdoor home. But Danny’s future may take a different path altogether. While community cats recover from their procedures and medical treatment, Gatos Borincoon also takes the opportunity to evaluate their personalities. Sometimes, a cat who was expected to return outdoors shows everyone that they may be happier living life as a beloved companion instead. It is still too early to know which future will be right for Danny. For now, the priority is helping his body heal, treating his painful skin condition, completing his necessary veterinary care, and giving him time to show his rescuers who he really is. Gatos Borincoon’s primary mission is TNVR, but when a community cat arrives suffering like Danny, they make sure that cat receives the extra help they need. Karate
Karate Has Spent Years Looking Out for Her Community. Now She Needs Us

Five years ago, Karate was a community cat living in a neighborhood in South Carolina. A dedicated caregiver made sure she was TNR’d, so she would never have litter after litter of kittens born into the challenges of life outdoors. For years, Karate quietly went about her life. After her caregiver moved away, her son continued feeding and watching over the community cats who remained behind. Then, suddenly, Karate disappeared. She was gone for about a week before she finally returned — and when she did, it was clear that something terrible had happened. Karate was badly injured and limping. Something appears to have gotten ahold of her and degloved her foot, leaving a significant and painful wound. Her rescuers immediately got her to the veterinarian, where she was anesthetized so her injury could be thoroughly examined and radiographs could be taken. Thankfully, there were some important pieces of good news: nothing is broken, and Karate still has all of her toes. But her foot is seriously injured, and there is already concern that a bone infection could be beginning. Karate has received antibiotics, but she isn't out of the woods. She needs ongoing wound care, veterinary follow-ups and close monitoring as her caregivers work to save her foot. And there is something else we learned about Karate: she is FIV positive. That diagnosis doesn't change her worth. It doesn't change our commitment to her. And it certainly doesn't mean she deserves any less of a chance. While Karate was receiving veterinary care, she was also brought up to date on her 3-year rabies vaccine and FVRCP vaccine — her first vaccinations since she was originally TNR’d all those years ago. For the past five or six years, Karate has lived outside without producing a single litter because someone cared enough to have her spayed through TNR. Now, after all those years of simply surviving, Karate is the one who needs someone to care for her. Our co-director and foster, Brianna, is taking Karate into her care during recovery. Brianna handles many of our wound-care cases and will be providing the hands-on care Karate needs while we fight to get her healthy again. And after everything she has been through, Karate will not simply be returned to the exact same situation once her medical care is complete. We want to give this brave girl every reasonable chance at a safer future. We never want a cat in need to have to wait simply because an emergency wasn't in the budget. But we need help covering the care Karate has already received — and the wound care and follow-up appointments still ahead. When Ginger showed up on a family's property in Colony Ridge in Liberty County, Texas he was clearly in desperate need of help. He was weak, extremely thin, and struggling to breathe. With the family preparing to leave town and no local shelter available to take cats, they were running out of options. They were considering having Ginger euthanized. Thankfully, they reached out before that decision was made. Poofer's Place stepped in and gave this sweet boy the chance he desperately needed. Instead of losing his life because there was nowhere else for him to go, Ginger is now safe and receiving the veterinary care and supportive treatment he needs. His condition is serious, and his recovery will take time. But Ginger is fighting, and Poofer's Place is determined to give him every opportunity to regain his strength and find out what kind of future is possible for him. Caring for a cat who arrives this sick comes with significant veterinary expenses, and Poofer's Place cannot do it alone. Blueberry's Leg Was Torn Off in a Lawn Mower Accident. Help Save His Life.

One moment changed Blueberry's life forever. This sweet dog suffered unimaginable injuries after a horrific lawn mower accident ripped off part of his leg, leaving him with a catastrophic wound and in unimaginable pain. By the time rescuers learned about him, half of his leg was already gone. No animal should ever have to endure this kind of trauma. When NYC Second Chance Rescue received the urgent plea for help from Alabama, there wasn't a second to waste. The rescue immediately stepped in, arranging emergency veterinary care and rushing Blueberry to the hospital, where a team of veterinarians began evaluating the full extent of his injuries. Blueberry needed an emergency amputation. Without hesitation, the rescue agreed to let surgeons quickly remove what remained of his severely damaged leg. The surgery was successful, and Blueberry is now beginning the difficult road to recovery. While the worst of the trauma is behind him, his journey is far from over. Blueberry is receiving intensive pain management, antibiotics, wound care, and around-the-clock monitoring as he recovers from major surgery. He'll need follow-up veterinary visits, medications, bandage care, and plenty of time to heal before he can begin adjusting to life as a three-legged dog. Thankfully, dogs are incredibly resilient. Once Blueberry has recovered, there's every reason to believe he can enjoy a happy, active life. But right now, his focus is simply on healing. Emergency medical care is expensive, and every hour of treatment adds to Blueberry's growing veterinary bill. At the time, the shelter that sent us the urgent plea was legally prohibited from disclosing the circumstances surrounding his case because of an active investigation. Now, they are permitted to speak and the truth is horrifying. Blueberry was seized through the court system, and his former owner is facing animal cruelty charges. Investigators do not believe that Blueberry lost his leg in a lawnmower accident. They believe he was intentionally attacked by a human and that his leg was deliberately severed. We know how difficult this is to read. We want our community to understand that we initially shared the only information legally available to us. Investigations like this cannot be compromised, because justice and ensuring that animal abusers are held accountable must remain the priority. Because of your support, we were able to provide Blueberry with the critical care he so desperately needed. Surgeons amputated what remained of his badly damaged leg, and he is now receiving the care, safety and compassion he should have had all along. We are outraged. We are devastated. But above all, we are committed to standing beside Blueberry as he heals and to fighting for the justice he deserves.

Henry's Eye Is Healing Because of You

Henry's story is one of resilience. When Gatos Borincoon first found this friendly black cat living outdoors with a painful injury near his eye, they feared he might lose it. Then Henry disappeared, leaving everyone worried they would never see him again. Thankfully, he returned, and rescuers were able to trap him and rush him to the veterinarian. The good news was that Henry's injury turned out to be an abscess above his eye that had burst near his eyelid, rather than a devastating eye injury. He immediately began treatment with injectable antibiotics and anti inflammatory medication to fight the infection and reduce the swelling. Life on the streets had clearly taken its toll. Henry's body was covered in scratches, his coat was patchy, and he needed parasite treatment to help him begin healing from the inside out. Despite everything he had endured, he never lost his sweet personality. He quickly showed everyone that he loves attention, happily asks for food, and enjoys every bit of affection he can get. Since starting treatment, Henry has made wonderful progress. His abscess has healed, his beautiful black coat is starting to grow back, and he is looking more like the healthy cat he was always meant to be. While he is doing much better, he isn't quite finished with treatment. His latest veterinary exam found lingering eyelid swelling and eye discharge, so he has been prescribed antibiotic eye ointment and will need another recheck to ensure the infection has completely resolved. Once Henry receives the all clear from his vet, he will still need to be neutered, vaccinated, and prepared for foster care before he can begin searching for the loving forever home he deserves. Gatos Borincoon primarily focuses on TNVR, but when an injured community cat like Henry needs more than trap, neuter, and return, they step in and give them every chance at a better life. Henry has come so far, but his journey isn't over yet. Your donation will help cover his remaining veterinary care, medications, follow up appointments, neuter surgery, and vaccinations so this incredibly sweet boy can make a full recovery and finally leave life on the streets behind forever. 8/8/26 Update After making such wonderful progress, Henry’s foster recently noticed more wet discharge coming from his forehead, and unfortunately, it appears his infection has not completely resolved. The abscess above his eye has started producing pus again, and while one of his eyes has healed, the other remains swollen and irritated. At Henry’s latest follow up appointment his veterinary team performed cytology on both areas of discharge to get a better understanding of what is causing the ongoing infection. He has now been prescribed oral antibiotics and eye drops and will return to the vet for another follow up in two weeks. Henry is also receiving another application of Revolution Plus as his care continues. For now, his neuter surgery will have to wait. Henry cannot be neutered until his veterinarian is confident that the infection has cleared and gives him the OK to move forward. It’s disappointing to see the infection return after Henry had been doing so well, but Gatos Borincoon is continuing to make sure he receives everything he needs to get through this. His foster is keeping a close eye on him, and we’re hopeful that this next round of treatment will finally get him one step closer to putting his days of infections, medications and life on the streets behind him. By the time Nubby was rescued and brought to Purrfect Peaches Cat Rescue, it was clear he had endured unimaginable trauma. His left front leg was fractured, and his tiny paw had been so severely crushed that it could not be saved. Despite everything he had been through, Nubby greeted everyone with gentle purrs, curious eyes, and a playful spirit that refused to give up. His resilience reminds us that even the smallest hearts can carry incredible strength. After a thorough examination, our veterinary team determined that the kindest and only path to a pain-free future is to amputate Nubby's injured front leg. For Flying Pigs Sanctuary, pulling kittens from feral and friendly cat colonies is always incredibly rewarding… but the truth is, you never quite know what you’re going to get. Sweet little Rabbit was in rough shape. She was covered in crusty wounds that are believed to be from a severe reaction to fleas. On top of that, she's battling a terrible upper respiratory infection, and gave them an even bigger scare when she wasn’t urinating properly. This tiny girl needed help—and they were determined to give it to her. With lots of veterinary care, medication, good food, warmth, and LOTS of love, Rabbit has improved dramatically. She looks and feels like a completely different kitten, and she is well on her way to being healthy enough to find the amazing indoor forever home she deserves. But while she heals, Rabbit has found herself a pretty incredible foster brother… Herbert. The Pig. Every single night, Rabbit curls up and cuddles with Herbert. She even gives him little scratches on his belly, and somehow these two have become the sweetest, most unlikely pair. This is the friendship we didn't know we needed. Mam Has Endured Enough Pain—Help Her Smile Again

Mam has already been through one major dental surgery, but her battle with chronic oral pain isn't over yet. This sweet Tennessee kitty suffers from stomatitis, a painful inflammatory disease that causes severe inflammation inside a cat's mouth. Even after having most of her teeth removed last year, Mam continues to struggle with pain every time she tries to eat. Now, she needs one final surgery to remove her remaining teeth so she can finally live the comfortable, pain-free life she deserves. Mam's journey began eight years ago on a rainy day when her mom found her alone, huddled inside an overturned trash can. She was just a tiny kitten with nowhere to go. That single act of kindness changed both of their lives forever. Since then, Mam has become so much more than a pet. Her mom says, "Mam is my absolute world, and her unconditional love gives me the strength to get through every single day." When Mam was diagnosed with severe stomatitis, her veterinarian performed extensive dental extractions in September 2024, hoping that leaving seven healthy teeth would be enough to keep her comfortable. While some cats do well with a few remaining teeth, Mam unfortunately continues to experience painful inflammation that makes eating difficult. Her veterinarian now believes removing those final seven teeth is the best path forward. The good news is that cats adapt incredibly well to having no teeth, and her veterinarian is optimistic that this surgery will finally provide the lasting relief she's been waiting for. The estimated cost of Mam's final dental surgery is $750.
