Starr Needs Help Eating Again: Treatment for Painful Stomatitis

Starr has been part of the Adopt a Cat Foundation family for some time. After becoming the store cat, Starr found a loving long-term foster home where he could enjoy the comfort and companionship he deserves. Starr was already known to be FIV-positive and diabetic, but he is now facing another painful medical condition: stomatitis, a severe inflammation of the mouth that can make eating extremely painful. Recently, Starr stopped eating, and his foster caregiver’s mobile veterinarian recognized that something was wrong. He was rushed to MedVet, where he was hospitalized for two days and diagnosed with stomatitis. Thankfully, Starr is now stable enough to continue his care with Adopt a Cat Foundation, but his medical journey is not over. Once he is feeling stronger, Starr will need a full-mouth extraction (FME) to address the painful dental and oral disease. This procedure is an important part of helping cats with severe stomatitis find relief and return to eating comfortably. With his existing diabetes and FIV, Starr already needs ongoing veterinary monitoring and care. Now, he needs treatment for this painful condition so he can get back to enjoying his days as the affectionate, special boy everyone knows and loves. We want Starr to be comfortable. We want him to eat without pain. And we want him to have the best quality of life possible. Meet Hodr! This incredible little boy spent months at animal control, where he spent his days huddled under a blanket. At only about 9 years old, he seemed much older because of his severe arthritis and near blindness. Time and again, he was passed by—until Chessed Foundation Rescue found him and gave him a chance. Since arriving in rescue, Hodr has completely blossomed in his foster home. He is gaining confidence every day and has turned into an absolute Velcro dog, staying close to his foster mom like glue. In fact, it's a good thing he only weighs 4 pounds because Hodr loves spending his days zipped into her sweatshirt! While his veterinarians don't feel there is much that can be done for his vision or joints, there is still an important step that can help give Hodr the best possible future. Chessed Foundation Rescue has made the decision to have him neutered, which will reduce his cancer risk and also help make him more adoptable. After spending so long overlooked at the shelter, Hodr finally has a safe place to call home and people who believe in him. Meet Opie, an adorable 15-year-old Lhasa Apso from Colorado who has been diagnosed with a recurring ruptured neck mass. Opie needs surgery that is estimate to be $1,250. Opie's dad is trying to raise an additional $650 so he can continue receiving the treatment he desperately needs. Will you help give Opie the gift of more time? Opie's story written by his dad “Opie is our beloved senior Lhasa Apso, approximately 15 years old, and his story is deeply connected to the story of our family. Opie first entered my life during a difficult chapter when my former partner, Alli, and I had separated. She originally brought him home as a source of comfort and companionship. As time went on, we found our way back to each other, rebuilt our relationship, and eventually welcomed our two beautiful children, Oliver and Navy. Through all those years, Opie was there. He watched our family grow, became a best friend to our children, and remained a constant source of unconditional love. When Alli and I recently decided to part ways, Opie was still very much a part of both our lives. For a while, we even shared custody of him, making sure he continued receiving love from both sides of our family. Eventually, that arrangement became difficult to maintain, and Opie came to live with me full-time. Through every change, every difficult moment, and every new beginning, Opie has remained one of the few constants in our lives. Unfortunately, Opie developed a mass on the side of his neck that was previously drained and treated with antibiotics. The mass returned, continued growing, and eventually ruptured, causing an open wound and bleeding. His veterinarian has recommended surgical removal. Despite his age and everything he’s going through, Opie continues to eat, drink, and enjoy being around the people he loves. He still has so much personality and love to give. I recently lost my job and have been struggling financially while preparing to begin new employment. As a father of two, finding a way to afford Opie’s surgery has been incredibly difficult, but I refuse to give up on a dog who has been there for us through so much. Our estimated veterinary expenses are up to $950. With the generous $300 grant already approved, I am respectfully requesting an additional fundraising goal of $650 to help cover his remaining treatment costs. Opie has spent his life being there for our family through love, heartbreak, reconciliation, and new beginnings. Now, when he needs us most, I want to make sure we’re there for him. Help Abby Walk Again Three weeks after I adopted her, Abby, my sweet three-and-a-half-year-old rescue dog, suffered a sudden, severe injury while playing. Before coming to me, this 48 lb terrier mix lived in West Virginia, where she was left orphaned after her previous owner passed away. She came from a wonderful all-volunteer shelter whose dedicated volunteers have continued to offer guidance and support. When I adopted her, she was a vibrant, boisterous ray of sunshine. She quickly began learning commands, loved to play, and greeted people of all ages and other dogs with a loving spirit. While playing, she suddenly began limping and then lay down at my feet. A veterinary evaluation by Dr. Dykus at Fusion Veterinary Orthopedics revealed torn cranial cruciate ligaments (CCL) in both knees, uncovering advanced underlying CCL disease. Both knees are severely compromised and already show the beginning of arthritic changes. She is unsteady and uncomfortable, and is limited to brief, leashed potty breaks while her pain is managed with medication. Dr. Dykus and his team evaluated her carefully and determined that surgery is needed to help her walk steadily and without pain. It is hard to see such a young, active dog completely sidelined. She adapts as best she can. She spends her days quietly playing with her favorite stuffed toys, and she is such a gentle soul that she lets me brush her teeth every night without a fuss. On her short potty breaks, she makes the most of things by sniffing everything within reach. We are looking forward to the surgery and recovery so she can return to her long walks. The cost: The total for surgery on both knees is $8,495. This is a significant cost for me. I am raising $2,500 toward it, and I am covering the rest. Dr. Dykus has kindly offered Abby a shelter-rate discount since she has only just arrived from the shelter. About insurance: Abby's diagnosis came shortly after her pet insurance policy began, so the insurer classifies the condition as pre-existing, and surgery now is not reimbursable. Where the money goes: All proceeds go directly to the veterinary clinic to fund her surgery. Any remainder will go toward her rehabilitation, medications, and follow-up visits. Tito should be spending his senior years somewhere safe, comfortable, and loved. Instead, this tiny Scottish Terrier found himself on the euthanasia list at a municipal shelter. Thankfully, CAMO Rescue stepped in just in time. Tito is estimated to be around 13 to 14 years old and weighs only 8 pounds. For such a little guy, he is carrying a long list of medical concerns that now need immediate attention. Tito has severe grade 4 dental disease, meaning his mouth is in very poor condition and he will likely need multiple painful teeth extracted. He is also vision impaired with cataracts, making it harder for him to navigate the world around him. On top of that, Tito is dealing with alopecia, along with dermatitis that has left his skin irritated and unhealthy. After everything he has already endured, this sweet old boy deserves the chance to finally feel better. Now Tito needs veterinary care to address his painful dental disease, evaluate his eyes and skin, and help him become as healthy and comfortable as possible in this next chapter of his life. CAMO Rescue said yes when Tito needed someone most. Now, they need our help giving him the care that comes after the rescue. Please consider donating toward Tito’s veterinary expenses. I found this baby in the back country road the other night. It was all alone and I couldn't stand to leave it there to get hit by a car. It's eyes are all red, swollen, and leaking. She needs help really bad. She is the sweetest little girl ever. I just want to get her the help that she needs. She needs her eyes checked. There has to be a pretty bad infection in there because nothing is helping her at all that I have tried while trying to get her into the vet asap. She is the sweetest little girl. She loves to just cuddle ans purring her little heart away. She is adorable. I have been sick with pnuemonia. I haven't been able to work recently because of it. I just need to make sure she is okay.

Help Simon Sunfyre Heal After a Traumatic Tail Amputation

A Good Samaritan found him on the highway after he had been dragged by a car, badly injured and in need of immediate help. The little cat was brought to a veterinary clinic with the intention of ending his suffering because the person who found him simply didn't have the resources to take on the extensive veterinary care he might need. But Wags 2 Riches Dog Rescue stepped in and gave him the opportunity to fight. And this little fighter was given not one, but two names. His rescuers called him Simon, while the veterinary staff had chosen Sunfyre, inspired by the story of a dragon who survived devastating injuries and carried his scars proudly. Together, he became Simon Sunfyre, a name that couldn't be more fitting for everything he has already survived. Simon suffered significant trauma from the accident. He was badly bruised and had lost a portion of his tail, leaving bone exposed and the remaining tissue at serious risk of dying. Veterinarians ultimately had to amputate his damaged tail to prevent further complications. Thankfully, X-rays revealed no broken bones. An ultrasound was also performed to make sure his bladder was intact and check for internal bleeding, and fortunately none was found. His bloodwork did show that Simon was borderline anemic, and the poor guy was also covered in fleas. Following surgery, Simon's veterinary team closely monitored him through the most critical part of his recovery. Despite everything his little body has endured, Simon is fighting. In the days since his rescue and surgery, he has been resting, eating kitten food, and taking his antibiotics. After being found so badly injured that euthanasia initially seemed like the kindest option available to him, these seemingly small moments mean so much. Simon still has healing ahead of him. His rescue is now responsible for the emergency veterinary care, diagnostics, tail amputation, medications, and continued treatment needed to help him recover from such a traumatic ordeal.
