Mam Has Endured Enough Pain—Help Her Smile Again

Mam has already been through one major dental surgery, but her battle with chronic oral pain isn't over yet. This sweet Tennessee kitty suffers from stomatitis, a painful inflammatory disease that causes severe inflammation inside a cat's mouth. Even after having most of her teeth removed last year, Mam continues to struggle with pain every time she tries to eat. Now, she needs one final surgery to remove her remaining teeth so she can finally live the comfortable, pain-free life she deserves. Mam's journey began eight years ago on a rainy day when her mom found her alone, huddled inside an overturned trash can. She was just a tiny kitten with nowhere to go. That single act of kindness changed both of their lives forever. Since then, Mam has become so much more than a pet. Her mom says, "Mam is my absolute world, and her unconditional love gives me the strength to get through every single day." When Mam was diagnosed with severe stomatitis, her veterinarian performed extensive dental extractions in September 2024, hoping that leaving seven healthy teeth would be enough to keep her comfortable. While some cats do well with a few remaining teeth, Mam unfortunately continues to experience painful inflammation that makes eating difficult. Her veterinarian now believes removing those final seven teeth is the best path forward. The good news is that cats adapt incredibly well to having no teeth, and her veterinarian is optimistic that this surgery will finally provide the lasting relief she's been waiting for. The estimated cost of Mam's final dental surgery is $750. Thanks to the generosity of Paws 4 A Cure, a $300 grant has already been awarded, leaving $450 still needed to move forward with treatment. ## Every gift directly supports Mam's journey toward a pain-free life, including: Dental extractions and oral surgery – Removing Mam's remaining seven teeth to eliminate the source of her chronic pain. I adopted Banyan (originally named Bandit) from the HART cat shelter in Cumberland, ME. in August/2023. I'd just moved from Portland's West End (after 31 years) to the Deering/Evergreen neighborhood, and wanted to adopt a second cat. Banny was a surrender. His elderly owner developed dementia and had other serious health problems. She could no longer care for him and her family didn't want him. Banny was taken to a veterinarian to be euthanized: he wasn't sick, he was just inconvenient. The vet refused, and instead got him to HART. I met B shortly after, right at the time when Lahaina, Maui (Hawaii) had the huge fire that destroyed the town and killed 100 people. But the famous old banyan tree there survived, just as Banyan had survived euthanasia here. That's how he got his new name. Banyan gets annual health exams. On his last visit in April, I was told that he had tooth decay, plaque build-up, & gingivitis, and will need costly dental care. While I budget for both of my cats for yearly exams, the $1,600 price tag is simply more than I can afford. Banny has come a long way from his early days of hissing & biting, to being the silly, quirky, lovable companion he is today. I am trying to get Banyan the care he deserves. I'm a senior living on a fixed income in subsidized housing. I never saw this extraordinary expense coming. What makes the cost high is the bloodwork, X-rays, and procedure medication.

Arrax and Vermax are siblings around 4 to 5 months old. They were found along with their mom when they were very young. The finder rents and is not allowed to keep animals; he kept these little ones safe until they no longer needed their mother. The finder found our booth at an event and asked if we could help. The man just happened to stop by our booth right before one of our long-term fosters showed up. Of course, they were willing to help us with them. These two siblings need vaccines, testing for feline leukemia and FIV, deworming, flea prevention, microchipping, and spay/neuter surgery. Arrax loves to play in the sink, and Vermax enjoys napping with his foster human sister. These two sweet siblings are the best and deserve a great home.

Scotty’s Painful Eye Condition Needed Urgent Surgery

Scotty had been surviving on the streets of Palm Beach County, where he was being fed near a coyote den. He had never been neutered and had never received the proper nutrition or care he desperately needed. His meals consisted of little more than cheap dollar-store food, and he was fading fast. When a cat advocate reached out to Cathy’s Cats Corporation for help, they couldn’t turn their backs on him. Scotty was suffering from entropion, a painful condition in which the eyelids roll inward, causing his eyelashes to grow toward and rub against his eyes. Every blink was causing irritation and pain, and he needed surgery as soon as possible to correct the problem and give him relief. Thankfully, Scotty received the surgery he desperately needed. He is now healing nicely and, with continued care, is expected to keep making progress in his new, safe environment. But the cost of Scotty’s emergency surgery has left Cathy’s Cats Corpora466tion without the funds they need to continue helping other vulnerable cats in Palm Beach County. Someone Hurt Muffin. Now This Tiny Kitten Is Fighting for His Life.

Muffin should have been spending his days playing, exploring, and discovering the world. Instead, this innocent kitten was found alone on the streets, abandoned, terrified, and suffering from injuries no animal should ever endure. The most heartbreaking injury is a deep, horrific wound across his neck that appears to have been intentionally inflicted. By the time rescuers found him, the wound had become severely infected, filled with pus, and was causing him unimaginable pain. But that wasn't all. Muffin was also dangerously dehydrated and burning with a high fever as his tiny body struggled to fight the overwhelming infection. Without immediate medical care, he may not have survived. He was rushed to the veterinary hospital, where he is now receiving around-the-clock treatment. Veterinarians have started antibiotics, intravenous fluids, pain medication, and wound management to stabilize him. His fever must come down, and the infection must be brought under control before surgeons can safely repair the devastating injury. Once his wound has been thoroughly cleaned and all infected tissue removed, Muffin will undergo surgery to close the injury with sutures. Even after surgery, he will need ongoing medications, bandage changes, and careful monitoring to ensure his little body can heal. Despite everything he has endured, Muffin continues to show the resilience that kittens are known for. Safe at last, he is finally receiving the compassion and care that has been missing from his young life. No kitten should ever know this kind of suffering. Meet Turtle, the hilarious little kitten who made absolutely ZERO effort to pretend she was feral. Flying Pigs Sanctuary was working yet another friendly cat colony in Tennessee when this tiny girl basically said, “Oh good, you’re here!” and jumped right into their arms. No trap needed. No convincing necessary. Turtle had apparently decided rescue was her next move, and they were happy to oblige. They scooped her up and got her straight into a low-cost clinic where she got the works —everything she needed to be healthy, vetted, and officially on her way toward FOREVER. But when you're trying to spay and neuter as many cats as humanly possible, medical bills add up quickly. Every bill they can get covered means there’s money available for the next colony. The next spay or neuter. The next kitten who needs medical care. Or, in Turtle’s case, the next kitten who literally jumps into your arms and asks you to change her life. Meet Trudy. Flying Pigs Sanctuary believed Trudy was dumped. Even more heartbreaking, they discovered that she was already spayed AND microchipped—but her chip was never registered. There was no one to call. No family to reunite her with. And Trudy clearly needed someone looking out for her. She had a cloudy eye and a VERY round belly, and before we could even think about finding her a home, we needed to make sure there wasn’t something medically wrong. So off to the vet she went. Somewhere along the way, Trudy became a total sanctuary favorite. She’s sweet, hilarious, affectionate and the kind of cat who makes you start rationalizing why maybe one more permanent resident wouldn't hurt. Azul, Laverne, and Shirley were all a part of a friendly cat colony where Flying Pigs Sanctuary spayed and neutered 15 cats —stopping countless future litters and giving every one of them a healthier future. And they are quite possibly the sweetest kitties ever. Thankfully, they didn't have any major health concerns; other than Azul needing dental work down the road. So right now, Flying Pigs Sanctuary is simply trying to raise $35 to cover each of their low-cost spay surgery. 🐾 South Carolina Community Cat Project Needs Your Help Zita has already endured more heartbreak than any cat should ever have to face. After losing every one of her kittens, this sweet mama cat should have been given the chance to grieve and begin healing. Instead, she is now facing a life-threatening medical emergency of her own. Zita was rushed to the emergency veterinarian after developing a dangerously high fever of 105°F. Bloodwork revealed her white blood cell count had skyrocketed to over 42,000, a sign that her body was battling a severe infection. Veterinarians quickly determined the likely cause: stump pyometra, a rare but life-threatening infection that can occur after a previous spay surgery. The infection has rapidly progressed to sepsis, and without immediate surgery, Zita has less than 24 hours to live. She is in surgery today, but this emergency came without warning. Her emergency examination, diagnostics, hospitalization, stabilization, and lifesaving surgery have already created overwhelming veterinary expenses for South Carolina Community Cat Project, and there are still additional costs ahead as she recovers.
