When Flying Pigs Sanctuary first met Cindi—with an “I” —she was barely more than a kitten herself. She was living in a colony of 15 adult cats and 15 kittens —30 cats, all friendly, all desperate for love, and all needing someone to step in and change the trajectory of their lives. And Cindi was a momma. She was skinny, covered in fleas, missing an eye, and clearly had already experienced more hardship in her short life than any animal should. But none of that stopped her from being an incredible mother. Her babies came first. Always. She cared for them like a pro, keeping them fed, safe, and loved while her own little body desperately needed care. So we made Cindi a promise: Take care of your babies, sweet girl, and then it’s YOUR turn. Once her kittens were old enough to be weaned, Flying Pigs got Cindi fully vetted and healthy enough to begin the next chapter of her life. But unfortunately, these exams come with a cost. Every time they say YES to a momma cat like her, they take on the cost of exams, vaccines, testing, flea treatment, medications, spay surgery, and whatever else she needs to leave her old life behind. What’s cuter than a tiny black kitten? A tiny black kitten with NO TAIL. Meet Bob Marley, Flying Pigs Sanctuary's ridiculously adorable little bobtail boy who was born right here at the sanctuary after his feral mama found her way to us. Mama has since been trapped and spayed, which means Bob and his siblings will be her last litter—and that alone is something worth celebrating. But they noticed that little Bob was developing just a bit slower than his siblings. Before sending him off to foster care and beginning his journey toward adoption, they wanted to make absolutely sure there wasn’t anything they were missing. So, off to the vet he went! Apparently Bob Marley didn’t get the memo that the vet is supposed to be scary. He proceeded to steal the hearts of everyone in the clinic, lounging upside down without a care in the world and soaking up every single ounce of love and attention being offered. Thankfully, their sweet little guy checked out, and with a little medication and some extra TLC, he’s continuing to move in the right direction. His vet visit and medication cost $150, and now they need your help covering Bob’s bill. Meet Bugs: From a cage to a best friend.

At just three months old, Bugs had already experienced more neglect than any animal ever should. Flying Pigs Sanctuary found this exuberant little kitten in a horrific hoarding case, locked in a cage by herself, covered in feces and absolutely desperate for love. But the second that cage door opened, Bugs didn’t hesitate. She came bounding out. She was so excited to see a human. So excited to be touched, held, and loved. Before Bugs can begin her journey toward adoption, they needed to make sure everything happening on the outside hadn’t caused something serious on the inside. So they rushed her to the vet for an evaluation, testing, and the care she needed so they can be confident in moving her to foster care. And Bugs has proven to be an absolutely AMAZING kitten. Even more beautifully, she found Finley —another little survivor from the same horrific hoarding case. Finley lost both of her siblings despite everything we did to save them, and now Bugs has taken her under her wing. The two have become best pals, playing, snuggling and learning together what kittenhood was supposed to look like all along. This is why they do it. They can’t erase the cage. They can’t erase the neglect. They can’t give them back the beginning they deserved. But they can completely rewrite the ending. When someone discovered a tiny kitten alone in the bathroom at their workplace, they weren't sure where he had come from or what to do. They reached out to Poofer's Place and sent photos of the kitten. When the rescue saw his condition, they knew he needed help. Now named Grant, the kitten was extremely thin, dehydrated, and had a deep injury on his hip where it appeared something had caught and torn his skin open. Poofer's Place immediately stepped in to care for Grant, keeping him warm and comfortable while assessing his condition and providing the supportive care he needed. His injury also requires veterinary attention, creating an unexpected expense for the rescue. Your donation will help cover Grant's veterinary care and the treatment he needs as he heals. Finley deserves the absolute best. And after everything she has survived, Flying Pigs Sanctuary is going to make sure she gets it. Finley was pulled from a horrific hoarding case in Tennessee where more than 150 animals were living on the property. She and her two tiny siblings were found confined in a cage, covered in feces and desperately needing help. They got all three babies into veterinary care immediately. But they were sadly too late for Finley’s two littermates. Finley struggled too, and there were moments when they were terrified they might lose her. But they refused to give up. She received the veterinary care she desperately needed, and this tiny girl fought with everything she had. And Finley made it. Today, she is thriving in an amazing foster home—growing stronger, learning what it feels like to be safe and loved, and getting closer every day to being ready for her forever family. There is something especially bittersweet about watching her thrive. They look at Finley and can't help but think about the two babies who should be growing up beside her. Finley will never again live in a filthy cage. She will never again be forgotten among more animals than anyone could possibly care for. From this point forward, this sweet, special girl gets only the best. Soon, Finley will be looking for the forever home she fought so hard to live for. Max Was Almost Euthanized - Help Us Heal Him

Max’s family made the heartbreaking decision to schedule an in-home euthanasia appointment after watching him suffer for so long with painful skin and ear issues they could no longer manage. But when the veterinarian arrived, she felt in her heart that euthanasia wasn’t the right answer. Beneath the inflamed skin, infected ears, and discomfort was a dog who still had life left in him — and a condition that appeared treatable with proper medical care. She immediately reached out to The Animal Pad asking if we could step in and give Max a chance. His owners lovingly agreed to surrender him to us so he could receive the medical support he desperately needed. Since coming into our care, Max has already begun treatment for a severe skin infection and painful chronic ear disease. His road to recovery includes medications, medicated mousse treatments, frequent medicated baths, Cytopoint injections, ear medications, and a specialized prescription diet to help calm his skin and start healing his body from the inside out. Despite everything he’s been through, Max is gentle, sweet, and so deserving of comfort and care. We truly believe this boy still has plenty of love and life ahead of him — he just needed someone willing to fight for him. Your support will help cover Max’s ongoing veterinary care, medications, diagnostics, and recovery needs as we work to get him healthy, comfortable, and eventually into a loving forever home. 5/19/26 Update We wanted to share a hopeful update on sweet Max. When Max first came into our care, his skin was painfully inflamed, his ears were severely infected, and his future felt uncertain. But even in the middle of all that discomfort, we knew there was a dog worth fighting for, and we are so grateful we gave him that chance. While we are still waiting on the results of Max’s skin testing so his veterinary team can create a full long-term treatment plan, the improvement we’ve already seen in just one week has been incredible. With consistent medicated baths, medicated mousse treatments, and dedicated care, Max is already starting to heal. The difference is truly amazing! He has grown back a significant amount of hair, his skin is looking healthier, and he finally seems to be getting some much-needed relief and comfort. Seeing Max begin to look and feel more like himself again has been so emotional for everyone involved in his care. After suffering for so long, he’s finally getting the medical attention he desperately needed and deserved. Max still has a road ahead of him, and ongoing treatment and diagnostics will continue as we wait for answers and work toward fully healing his skin and ears. But this progress is such an encouraging sign that brighter days are ahead for this sweet boy. Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared his story, and supported Max on his journey so far. Your kindness is already changing his life in a huge way. 5/29/26 Update We are so happy to share another encouraging update on sweet Max! When Max first entered our care, he was suffering from severe skin disease, painful ear infections, and discomfort that had become overwhelming. Today, while his healing journey is still ongoing, the progress he has made has been nothing short of incredible. Max's skin is still a work in progress, but it is looking significantly better thanks to his medicated baths, medications, specialized care, and the dedication of everyone involved in his recovery. Seeing his skin improve week by week has been incredibly rewarding after all the discomfort he endured for so long. While we are still waiting for the final results of Max's skin testing, we expect to have more answers very soon. Those results will help his veterinary team better understand the root cause of his skin issues and create the most effective long term treatment plan moving forward. Although there is still work ahead, every day brings more progress and more hope. Max is finally receiving the medical care he needed all along, and it is wonderful to see him feeling better and becoming more comfortable in his own skin. His recovery remains an ongoing process, and continued veterinary appointments, diagnostics, medications, and treatment will be essential as we work toward giving Max lasting relief. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated, shared his story, and supported his journey so far. Your generosity is helping give this deserving boy the second chance he almost never received. 6/23/26 Update We wanted to share another update on sweet Max and his ongoing recovery journey. As part of Max's continued veterinary care, his team recently evaluated a mass that had been monitored and causing some concern. We are relieved to report that the cytology results came back as a lipoma, which is a benign fatty mass. After careful discussion, Max's veterinary team decided that surgical removal is not the best option at this time. While the lipoma is growing slowly, removing it would require a very extensive surgery. Given Max's age and the risks associated with such a major procedure, the team feels that monitoring the mass closely is the safest and most compassionate path forward. While this is certainly encouraging news, Max is not out of the woods yet. He continues to require ongoing medical care for the chronic skin and ear conditions that brought him to us in the first place. His recovery has come a long way, but he still needs regular veterinary monitoring, medications, specialized treatments, and continued management to keep him comfortable and healthy. Caring for a senior dog with complex medical needs is an ongoing commitment, and Max's journey is far from over. We are incredibly grateful that this latest test brought reassuring results, but the costs of Max's care continue to add up as we work to give him the quality of life he deserves. Your donations have already helped transform Max's life from a dog whose family had scheduled euthanasia because they could no longer manage his medical needs, to a dog who is finally receiving the treatment, comfort, and second chance he deserves. Maple Leigh is a rescue; but to be honest, when we adopted her four years ago, SHE rescued US. We knew Maple was special from the beginning; she has a heart of resilience. She had her front-right leg amputated as a puppy and then spent 3 years with a foster, being overlooked by adopters. Our little tripod reminds us that our differences make us special and that we can do hard things. At Maple's recent bi-annual checkup, her blood results showed significant elevation in her liver protein numbers. After a nerve-racking visit to an internal medicine specialist, we learned that Maple has a shunt in her liver that is allowing some of her blood to circulate without being detoxified and can only be corrected through surgery. We are working with Dr. Kerr at Gulf Coast VS for her care. Maple is the beloved Queen of our house. She rules over her family of two adults, two kids, and two fur-siblings with grace and empathy. She protects us with the cutest little bark when the front door opens, sits with us when we are feeling sad or anxious, and follows us around, nipping at our heels to direct us. She's always on someone's lap and is always making someone smile. Our family isn't ready to give up our Maple Leigh, but our finances can't cover the cost of her surgery. Maple's grown ups both give our hearts to others through our work as a teacher & a mental health counselor. Now, we need help keeping the heart of our family with us.
