Magic is our loyal, loving, agreeable, and serious protector and companion, since he was a puppy - for 12 years! We even moved across the country together. He accepted my husband and his dog with ease, even though he can be skeptical of other dogs. He loves walks, swimming, his ball, and our road trips all over the US. He often gives his curious face because he always wants to know what's next! Magic has developed benign fatty lipomas over time, but the most recent one seems to be cancerous, after the vet performed a fine needle aspiration on it. We will need surgery to have it removed and biopsied, hoping it is localized, and not metastasized. If it has spread at all, the next step will be radiation. We are working with the Fox Hollow Animal Hospital, who is providing Magic's care. Magic has a lot of life left in him! He is an integral part of our pack, and he brings us protection, companionship, sing-alongs, love, healing, and joy. He works together with his 'little sister' (chihuahua mix!) - she is the 'early warning system' and Magic is the 'muscle'. He teaches her how he plays, how he destroys toys, how to communicate in dog language, and how to roll with life changes. Magic is looking for support because we've had a few larger expenses added to our plate recently (car, health, etc). I work as a mental health therapist, and my husband works for a church; we don't have extra income. Our budget and our credit are both already overwhelmed!:(

When Flying Pigs Sanctuary received a call about a tiny kitten named Marco suffering from a terrible wound, they rushed to get him the emergency care he desperately needed. But they knew they couldn’t help Marco and leave his mom behind. Momma Ginger had been living outside, where without intervention, she could continue having litter after litter. More kittens would be born into an uncertain life outdoors, vulnerable to illness, injury, and the same kind of suffering that brought little Marco into rescue. So Flying Pigs Sanctuary went back for Ginger. After safely trapping her, they made sure this momma received the care she needed, including her spay surgery, vaccinations, and combo testing. And with one trip to the vet, Ginger’s cycle of pregnancies has finally come to an end. No more litters for this sweet girl. No more babies born outside struggling to survive. Ginger can finally simply be cared for herself. Spaying one community cat may feel like a small step, but its impact can reach far beyond one animal. It prevents future litters while allowing rescues like Flying Pigs Sanctuary to focus their limited resources on the animals already waiting for help. Now, they need our support covering Momma Ginger’s veterinary care. After being dumped at a community cat colony and becoming a mother while she was still incredibly young herself, Mouse finally had the chance to leave life outside behind. Now this sweet girl needs a little help with veterinary care of her own. Mouse first appeared at a colony her rescuer had been caring for through TNR for years. She wasn't originally part of the colony. Someone had dumped her there, leaving this friendly young cat to fend for herself. When her rescuer stopped by to feed the colony one day, Mouse came running over, and it was immediately apparent that she was heavily pregnant. Just a few days later, Mouse disappeared. With multiple people feeding cats throughout the area, tracking her down wasn't easy. Eventually, another trapper helping at the colony sent over a photo of a friendly cat she had found. To everyone's surprise and relief, it was Mouse. She had given birth to another litter of kittens despite being little more than a youngster herself. Her days as a teenage mom are thankfully behind her. Mouse was brought into Rags to Riches Animal Rescue, fully vetted, and given the opportunity to live safely indoors. Her rescuers quickly discovered what a sweet, gentle, and loving cat had been left behind at that colony. More recently, Mouse needed additional veterinary attention for respiratory concerns. Her care included anesthesia so her veterinary team could perform a nasal flush, along with nebulization treatment to support her respiratory system. She also received additional diagnostic care, including a urinalysis. Her recent veterinary bill totaled $480.81, an expense her rescue has already taken on to make sure Mouse received the treatment she needed. Mouse has already experienced more uncertainty than such a sweet girl ever should have. She was dumped, became a mother while still young herself, and needed rescue to finally give her the security and care she had been missing. Mama Pickle fought to survive to keep her babies alive. Now, it’s her turn to be cared for. Rescued by Flying Pigs Sanctuary from a horrific hoarding situation in Tennessee, Mama Pickle was found trapped in a cage with her three tiny kittens. They were covered in feces, with no food, no water and no way to escape. But Mama Pickle had three little lives depending on her. Through her hunger, thirst and neglect, she held on and managed to keep her babies alive. Today, all three of her kittens are safe and thriving! Now, we want to give their brave mama the same chance. Mama Pickle needs complete veterinary care, including testing, vaccines and a spay, before she can begin the search for the loving forever home she deserves. We can’t change what happened to her. We can’t give back the days she spent trapped in that cage, fighting to keep her family alive. But together, we can make sure the rest of her life looks nothing like the beginning. Meet Sassafras Swirl-- or as his foster calls him, "our little Jonesy." Just like the ship's cat from Alien, Sassafras Swirl has a survival instinct that just won't quit. Loud noises will send him running for cover, but give him a minute and he'll talk himself back out, ears up and ready to try again. His foster has watched him do this over and over: freeze, assess, and push through. But once Sassafras Swirl is comfortable, he is all personality. He runs a strict two-breakfast, two-dinner household (he's basically a Hobbit), and he will let you know (loudly!) if service is slow. Between portion one and portion two, he expects a non-negotiable five-minute chin-scratch session. In the evenings, he is a lap cat who just wants to soak up love so he can be exactly who he is: a survivor who just wants his people, his food on schedule, and his chin scratched. On 8/26, Sassafras was seen for vomiting, diarrhea, and a dropping appetite. Our vet found that the real culprit was significant dental disease, with root exposure on his canine teeth. Left untreated, this kind of pain doesn't just make eating difficult, it can shut a cat down entirely. Sassafras needs a full dental workup under anesthesia, which includes pre-anesthetic bloodwork, dental radiographs, and extractions. Between diagnostics, sedation, and the extractions themselves, Sassafras's dental treatment will run just over $1,500. But every dollar will go directly to getting him pain-free and back to being the food-motivated, cuddle-demanding little guy his foster adores. A Tiny Kitten Survived Unimaginable Cruelty. Now He Needs Us

This tiny kitten should have been safe beside his mother, learning how to play, explore, and grow. Instead, he was stolen from her and subjected to horrific abuse by children. Comet was hit in the eye, injured, and left separated from the only protection he knew. By the time Paws & Claws Animal Welfare received a request for help, this innocent baby was in desperate need of medical attention. They immediately rescued him and rushed him to a veterinary hospital. What the veterinary team found was heartbreaking. Little Comet's body temperature was dangerously low, and he was suffering from severe dehydration and extreme exhaustion. His eyes were badly swollen, and he could barely open them. Blood covered his tiny face, and the veterinary team worked to carefully clean away as much as they could. He was also bleeding from his nose and required injections to help control the bleeding. Because he was so weak and fragile, he was immediately admitted to the ICU, where the veterinary team is working around the clock to stabilize him and bring his body temperature back to normal. Right now, Comet is simply too fragile for additional testing. His little body needs time to stabilize before the veterinarians can safely perform the examinations necessary to understand the full extent of his injuries. We don't yet know everything Comet has endured or what his road to recovery will look like. We do know that he deserved none of this. He should have been with his mother. He should have been playing. He should have been loved and protected. Instead, he is fighting for his life in an ICU. Paws & Claws Animal Welfare stepped in because they refused to let this innocent kitten suffer any longer. Now they need our help to give him the medical care he needs to survive. His veterinary expenses are already mounting, and additional diagnostics, treatment, hospitalization, and care will be needed as his condition develops. Stanley Was Threatened With Death. Then They Found Him Bleeding.

Stanley was just trying to survive. A kind woman began feeding him after he appeared outside her apartment building. Every day, he would come back to her for food. He knew she would help him, and little by little, he began to trust her. But not everyone wanted Stanley around. People in the apartment building began threatening that they would kill him. Then Stanley disappeared. For four terrifying days, the woman who had been caring for him couldn't find him. And then she discovered him lying beside the building — bleeding badly from his neck. His injuries were so severe that it appeared someone had tried to slit his throat. Stanley was rushed to the veterinarian, where he is now receiving treatment for his horrific injuries. And despite everything that has happened to him, there is something that makes Stanley's story even more heartbreaking: He is incredibly sweet. This precious boy is gentle and loving with people. He still seeks out human kindness after someone appears to have tried to hurt him. How could anyone look at this sweet baby and want to harm him? We may never understand what happened to Stanley or why someone would want to hurt an innocent animal who was simply trying to find food and survive. But we can make sure that what happened to him is not the end of his story. Paws & Claws Animal Welfare stepped in when Stanley needed help most. Now they are making sure he receives the veterinary care he needs to recover from his devastating injuries. Stanley has already endured enough fear and pain. Now he needs a safe place to heal. He needs medical care, medications, wound treatment and time to recover. Most of all, he needs to learn that not every human will hurt him. Nubby's Leg Wasn't Broken-It Was GONE

Nubby had been a neighborhood stray for years. Kind people fed her and looked out for her, but recently someone noticed she was limping. When they were finally able to get a closer look, they discovered something horrifying. Half of one of her back legs was simply gone. There was exposed bone where the rest of her leg should have been. Even more unbelievable, the wound had already begun trying to heal—telling us Nubby had been living this way, and living with the pain, for quite some time. We have no idea what happened to her. We thought we were prepared for what the veterinarian might find. We weren’t prepared for the X-ray. Her injury was far worse than what we could see from the outside. The remaining portion of her damaged leg is completely rotated backward. Had her foot still been there, it would be pointing behind her. And then we learned her pelvis had also been broken. Somehow, this little cat has been surviving outside with all of that. And after everything she has endured, Nubby is incredibly affectionate. Now she needs our help. Nubby needs surgery to properly amputate the remaining damaged portion of her leg and finally take away the source of her pain. While she is under anesthesia, she will also be spayed. And something wonderful is waiting for her on the other side of surgery: Nubby will never have to live outside as a stray again. She has a foster home waiting where she can recover safely and begin the life she should have had all along. We need to raise $500 for Nubby’s medical care. I brought Rusty home at 4.5 weeks old after his mom stopped nursing. The first night on my bed he fought with everything he had to try to suckle me. I got up right then and got milk replacer, and that was it — we fell in love. Since then, I'm his emotional support human and he's mine. Rusty has an undiagnosed issue with his back leg/hip causing pain and limping. After months of not knowing, we finally have a plan for imaging to confirm the diagnosis. Right now his vet suspects a CCL tear that will need surgery. He turns 2 this week and has a full life ahead of him once he's out of pain We knew Rusty's dad was a pure Siberian Husky, but his mom looked like a total mix. His DNA came back clear for all the health defects on the panel and 53% Husky, 26% Great Pyrenees, and 21% mixed blend. This recipe makes a highly affectionate, talking guard dog that needs me to protect him from the scary stuff. After 5-6 vet visits and nearly $1,000 spent, we just got a real plan. I've been out of work since a ray amputation of my dominant index finger last year. I hope to return soon, but Rusty can't wait in pain. We need help for his imaging and surgery.
