Grandma
Grandma Survived the Streets. Now She Needs Your Help to Eat Without Pain.

For years, a quiet gray cat known as Grandma has called a South Florida cat colony home. No one knows exactly how old she is, but her caretakers lovingly gave her the nickname "Grandma" because she appears to be the mother—and perhaps even the grandmother—to many of the younger cats who share the colony with her. While she has spent her life outdoors, Grandma isn't truly wild. Like so many community cats, she depends on the kindness of people to survive. For years, dedicated caretakers fed and watched over the colony. When those caretakers sadly passed away earlier this year, the future of dozens of cats was suddenly uncertain. Thankfully, members of the local rescue community stepped in to continue providing food and monitoring the colony's health. That's when they noticed Grandma was struggling. Instead of eagerly eating like the others, she began showing unmistakable signs of dental pain. Her tongue would hang out after trying to eat, and she made repeated chewing motions even when her mouth was empty. One of her teeth appeared to be sticking out, likely loose and incredibly painful. Her once-neat gray coat became unkempt, and she began losing weight—a heartbreaking sign that eating had simply become too painful. Getting Grandma to safety wasn't easy. Naturally cautious and frightened of people, she avoided the humane trap day after day. For three long days, volunteers patiently waited as every other cat wandered under the trap for a meal while Grandma stayed just out of reach. Finally, tempted by the irresistible smell of a sardine, she cautiously stepped inside—and the trap door gently closed behind her. Now, for the first time in years, Grandma has a chance to find relief. Adopt A Cat Foundation graciously stepped in to hold Grandma and ensure she receives the veterinary care she desperately needs. Next week, she will undergo a comprehensive dental procedure, where the veterinary team will examine her mouth, remove painful diseased or broken teeth, and finally free her from the constant pain that has made every meal a struggle. Grandma recently went in for her dental procedure, and veterinarians discovered that the loose front tooth causing her so much pain needed to be removed. Thankfully, the rest of her teeth were in great condition, so no additional extractions were necessary! While she was at the clinic, Grandma also received an updated rabies vaccination and a comprehensive SNAP test. We’re happy to share that she tested negative for FIV, FeLV, and heartworm. ❤️ Most importantly, Grandma can finally eat without the constant pain that had made every meal such a struggle. No more chewing motions when there’s no food in her mouth, no more struggling with a painful loose tooth, and no more discomfort every time she tries to eat. Now that she has received the care she needed, Grandma can return to the outdoor colony she knows and loves. Spirit
Help Spirit Recover from Anemia, Infection, and a Difficult Start

At just six weeks old, Spirit was found lying on the hot asphalt in the drive thru of a bakery. He was lethargic, severely dehydrated, and both of his tiny eyes were crusted completely shut. Alone, unable to see, and too weak to move, this little kitten desperately needed someone to notice him. Thankfully, Gatos Borincoon did. They rushed Spirit to the vet, where he was hospitalized and given the intensive care he needed to survive. After several days of treatment, this tiny fighter began to show everyone just how strong he really is. Since then, Spirit has continued to battle one obstacle after another. At his recent follow up appointment, the good news was that he tested negative for both parasites and feline leukemia. Those results were a huge relief. Unfortunately, his fight isn't over yet. Spirit was found to be anemic and is now taking daily Amino B-Plex to help support his recovery. He is also being treated for lice and ear mites, and despite everything he's already overcome, he is still struggling with a respiratory infection that causes persistent nasal congestion. His eyes continue to have discharge, requiring antibiotic eye drops, and he remains on oral antibiotics as he works toward a full recovery. While Spirit is improving every day, he still has a long road ahead. He has another follow up appointment in 14 days, and his most recent vet visit was far more expensive than expected due to the additional diagnostic testing needed to determine exactly what this tiny kitten was facing. Despite everything, Spirit hasn't given up. Day by day, he's growing stronger thanks to the dedicated care of his rescuers. Your donation will help cover Spirit's hospitalization, diagnostic testing, medications, follow up appointments, and any additional veterinary care he may need as he continues to heal. His eyes have been responding very well to the drops, and his rescuers are incredibly relieved that they were able to get him treatment in time to protect his vision. After everything this little guy has been through, seeing his progress has been amazing. Spirit still has a follow up appointment in two weeks to check on his recovery and hopefully continue moving forward with his routine care, but he has already come such a long way from the tiny kitten found helpless in that drive thru. A Brain Injury Left Little Angelina With Severe Seizures—Help Impact Her Future ❤️

3 year old Angelina is a very special little girl. After suffering a brain injury as a puppy, she has continued to navigate the world in her own way. She has been taking medications for years now, which helps with the seizures but does not fully prevent them. Our vet team at Compassion Kind has been working extensively with Angelina and now recommend she get advanced neurological care and an MRI to help understand her seizures and the best path forward. This care is essential to giving her the best quality of life, care, and comfort. Her current estimate for diagnostics is already up to $5500. Angelina, known as Beanie to her close friends, is the sweetest pup once she opens up to you. She has her gentle moments and loves to cozy up to you, and also gets quick bursts of zoomies. Her foster family has learned her quirks and knows she will need a calm and predictable environment. She is dog and kid approved and can live with another dog or two, but her ideal home is a quieter one where someone is around often and she can be the center of her person’s world. She needs a family committed to continuing her daily seizure medication, keeping her routine consistent, and loving her for the beautifully unique girl she is. Right now we are asking our community to help us get Beanie the neurological care she urgently needs while we continue searching for her perfect forever home. Five Cats, One Compassionate Mission: Help Us Complete This TNVR Project

On the streets of Egypt, life is incredibly hard for community cats. Every day they face hunger, illness, injuries, and the constant struggle to survive. Without intervention, the cycle continues as more kittens are born into the same difficult conditions. Paws & Claws Animal Welfare recently stepped in to help five beautiful community cats—four females and one male—through a lifesaving TNVR (Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Return) project. Each of these cats has now been safely trapped and brought in for veterinary care. The four females are being spayed, which will prevent countless future litters and spare them the physical toll of repeated pregnancies. The male cat is being neutered, helping reduce roaming, territorial fighting, and injuries. All five cats are also receiving essential vaccinations to help protect them from preventable diseases and improve their overall health before being returned to the areas they call home. This project may involve only five cats, but the impact is enormous. By helping these cats today, we are preventing future suffering for dozens—possibly hundreds—of kittens who would otherwise be born on the streets. Albert Has Suffered Long Enough—Help Him Finally Heal

When Albert arrived at NYC Second Chance Rescue, it was impossible to ignore the pain he had been carrying for far too long. Hidden beneath years of severe matting and neglect was a dog who had been silently suffering. As veterinarians carefully examined him, they uncovered one heartbreaking medical issue after another. Albert has painful ulcers in both eyes that make every blink uncomfortable. He is also battling a severe bacterial and yeast skin infection that has left his skin inflamed and irritated. On top of that, he has a heart murmur and bloodwork showing multiple concerning abnormalities, including elevated liver values, mildly elevated kidney values, inflammation throughout his body, electrolyte imbalances, and a borderline low thyroid level. While we're grateful that testing ruled out tick-borne diseases and intestinal parasites, doctors know there is still much more to uncover. They are now concerned that an underlying condition—such as Cushing's disease or hypothyroidism—may be contributing to everything Albert is facing. The next step is a comprehensive abdominal ultrasound to evaluate his liver, kidneys, adrenal glands, and other vital organs so his veterinary team can determine exactly what is causing these abnormalities and create the treatment plan he desperately needs. The good news is that Albert hasn't given up. Despite everything he has endured, he continues to eat well, accepts the care he's receiving, and greets his rescuers with a gentle, loving spirit that shines through his pain. Soon, we hope to move him into a dedicated medical foster home where he can continue healing surrounded by comfort, patience, and love. For the first time in what may be years, Albert finally has people fighting for him. Now he needs a community willing to stand beside him. While that diagnosis may sound frightening, there is good news: his atrial valves are not enlarged, which means his heart is compensating well. At this time, his cardiology team has determined that he does not need heart medication, and they will continue to monitor his condition. His abdominal ultrasound also brought a wave of relief. The scan showed mostly age-related changes, and veterinarians have officially ruled out Cushing's disease—one of the biggest concerns they had when Albert first arrived. The only significant finding was an enlarged prostate, which will be addressed during his upcoming neuter surgery. Additional testing confirmed that Albert has hypothyroidism, and he has now started medication to help regulate his thyroid levels. With treatment, his veterinary team is hopeful this will improve many of the symptoms that have been affecting his overall health. Tomorrow marks another important milestone in Albert's recovery. He is scheduled to undergo both his neuter surgery and a much-needed dental procedure to relieve the years of pain caused by neglected teeth. Because these procedures require an extended period under anesthesia, his veterinarians will wait another one to two weeks before bringing him back to receive his vaccines, allowing his body time to recover safely. While Albert still has a journey ahead of him, today's update is filled with cautious optimism. Every diagnostic test has brought valuable answers, allowing his veterinary team to develop the best possible treatment plan. For the first time in a long time, Albert isn't just surviving—he's finally getting the care he has always deserved. Thank you for standing by Albert throughout his recovery. Lily Is Back in Safe Hands—and She Needs Help Healing

Lily thought she had finally found her forever home. This beautiful, affectionate large-breed dog was adopted from Unbreakabull Rescue Allies with hopes of a bright future. Like so many rescue dogs, all she wanted was a family to love and a place where she belonged. Instead, she got the opposite. Not long after her adoption, Lily's family began expressing frustration with her size and behavior. They decided not to keep her. Because all of our foster homes were full, we asked the adopters to keep Lily until a foster opening became available. They agreed. Then everything changed. Two weeks before Lily was scheduled to return to the rescue, her adopter contacted us with alarming news: Lily's face was severely swollen. Although frustrated with having to deal with Lily's medical crisis, they took her to the veterinary clinic upon our request. However, after refusing to authorize any diagnostics or treatment beyond a basic prescription for antibiotics, they left the clinic with Lily, drove to her former foster home, and left her there. Lily was taken to an emergency clinic, but her adopter refused to authorize additional diagnostics or treatment beyond a basic prescription for antibiotics. Then, without warning, they drove to Lily's former foster home, left her there, and walked away. A sick, suffering dog was simply discarded. Once Lily was back in rescue care, the heartbreaking truth became clear. The massive swelling covering her face was caused by an untreated cat bite she had suffered inside the adopter's home. The puncture wounds had been ignored until a severe infection developed, causing significant pain, inflammation, and risk to her overall health. And the truth of the matter is, Lily deserved better. Thankfully, she is now safe. With proper veterinary treatment, medications, and dedicated care from her foster family, the infection is improving and the swelling has begun to subside. But the cost of her emergency treatment and follow-up care has placed an unexpected burden on our rescue. We are asking for your help to cover Lily's veterinary expenses so we can continue providing the care she deserves. Despite everything she has been through, Lily remains loving, trusting, and ready to believe in people again. We refuse to let her story end with abandonment. June & Johnny
The road to hope: Saving June & Johnny

At the start of the week, we received a call about two stray beagles who had wandered onto a kind woman’s porch in Southern Kentucky. Both dogs were skinny, exhausted, and clearly had been struggling for quite some time. Sadly, due to limited resources, the woman was unable to keep them, but she did everything she could—offering them safety on her porch, along with food and water, while desperately reaching out for help. One of the beagles, a female we have now named June, had an obvious leg injury and was struggling badly to walk. The moment I heard about them, I knew I needed to help. After many phone calls, we were connected with an incredible volunteer who does rescue work in the very remote area of Pine Knot, Kentucky. Without hesitation, Kim stepped in to help. She picked the dogs up, secured them safely, and transported them to the vet appointment we had arranged. After the vet visit, we received heartbreaking news that June not only had a shattered leg but x-rays revealed a bullet lodged in her leg. We were absolutely shocked. This poor girl has been surviving as a stray while suffering from severe and painful injuries. Thankfully, Johnny, the male beagle, appears to be doing well overall. Thanks to a rescue partner, we were able to bring June and Johnny back to Wisconsin. June is now on antibiotics to fight the infection she had, so she can become stable enough to have her broken leg amputated. Johnny was neutered and continues to eat and become more active each day. He is always right by June's side. If anyone would like to donate toward this rescue mission, I would be deeply grateful. The expenses of many vet visits and upcoming surgery are stacking up, and we could really use any support you're willing to give. Curly
Curly is a 13 year old Shih Tzu in Johnstown, PA, who needs $775 for Enucleation and Dental.

Curly is a senior dog who lived alone for months after his owner died. As his health declined, the family decided they didn’t want him. We often take in strays and find them a home so we were called to help Curly. We definitely have a soft spot in our hearts (and on our couch) for these neglected and unwanted seniors. Curly needed help so we stepped up to give him a home until it’s time. Enucleation - With an untreated ulcer and abcess, Curly's eye was in danger of rupturing. Dr. Faith Dumm, his veterinarian at Cambria Veterinary Care, tried saving the eye with medicated drops, which we administered faithfully for weeks. However, his injuries were too severe to be corrected and had already caused blindness in the eye. To save him from an impending rupture, the eye will have to be removed. Dental - Also, Curly has an advanced heart murmur that's worsening due to his decayed teeth. Having most of his teeth extracted will eliminate his dental disease and possibly prevent him from going into congestive heart failure. Dr. Dumm at Cambria Veterinary Care will perform both surgeries. Since being rescued, Curly’s skin fungus has healed and his fur is growing back, he’s joined our pack of Tzus to help patrol the neighborhood and sniff the entire perimeter of the yard. He likes to supervise all yard work and likes to be covered with a blanket when he sleeps. He now snuggles into our shoulders when we hold him. I swear seniors know when they’ve been rescued. We have 3 dogs of our own, but Curly needed a soft place to land. We want to give him a second chance on living a pampered life. We can provide a home, food, love, beds, blankets, and regular vet visits, but we need help with the additional cost of his dental and enucleation.
