Jiggy
Jiggy is a 8 year old American Shorthair in Cedar Rapids, IA, who needs $2,500 for Blood Transfusion.

I adopted Jiggy from Cedar Valley Humane Society Society. Jiggy had been brought in by a women who stated that her boyfriend had been shooting him with a BB gun in their backyard while Jiggy was a stray. This caused Jiggy to have a permanently turned down ear. Jiggy’s age is unknown but was estimated to be 6 at the time. I have had him almost 3 years and will be 9 in August. Jiggy is FIV+ and FELV+. This causes him to have a very weak immune system. Jiggy currently has a grade 1/2 heart murmur and very early stages of heart disease. Jiggy struggles with allergies/asthma and his most recently blood work at Peterson Pet Hospital in Cedar Rapids, show he is now anemic. This could be a serious issue and it is important for early diagnosis for the best outcome. Jiggy is the most perfect cat I have ever had. He is an amazing cuddle buddy and loves to talk our ears off when we come home or when he wants food! Our stud loves to lay around, sunbathe, and watch anything and everything out the window. He loves to be around people and always is right next to us. Jiggy’s favorite thing is being brushed. He will even brush himself if we just hold the comb out! Due to Jiggy’s issues he never qualified for pet insurance. With repeated vet visits, this year alone I have spent roughly $1460 on vet care. Now he needs diagnostics tests to help determine why he is anemic. If not treated we may lose our cuddle-bug and would be heartbroken

Street Dog Left with a Devastating Open Fracture, Maggot-Infested Wounds, and Multiple Fractures After Being Dragged Along the Road

She lay there in the darkness, barely moving and completely alone. Her body was covered in wounds. Her hind leg was shattered, the bone exposed through a devastating open fracture. Maggots crawled through the wounds across her back. She was emaciated, weak, and exhausted. As we stood there looking at her broken body, even after more than ten years of rescue work, we were shaken to our core. We had received the call just before midnight about a dog in extremely bad condition. But we were not prepared for this. Looking at her, we could not understand how she was still alive. We knew immediately that she could not wait until morning. We lifted her as gently as we could and rushed her back to our sanctuary clinic, where our veterinarian worked into the small hours of the morning—removing maggots and necrotic tissue, cleaning her infected wounds, administering fluids, antibiotics, and pain medication, and doing everything possible to stabilize her. By morning, the full extent of her suffering was becoming clear. Her blood work showed severe anemia, and the open fracture we had seen in the darkness was not her only fracture. There are multiple fractures throughout that same hind leg, and we also believe one of her front legs is fractured. Looking at the injuries covering her body, we believe she may have been hit by a vehicle and dragged along the road before being left there—alone—to somehow survive in this condition for possibly a week. But not all of her wounds came from the road. There are also dog bite wounds across her body. While she was already broken, severely injured, and unable to escape, she was attacked by other dogs. We are heartbroken by what she has endured. Disha desperately needs surgery, but right now, she is simply too weak. Before we can repair her shattered bones, we first have to make her strong enough to survive what comes next. For now, we will continue fighting the infection, treating her wounds, managing her pain, correcting her anemia, and giving her body the nutrition and support it so desperately needs. We will do everything in our power to give her the chance she has fought so hard to reach. Together, we can give her the chance to heal. 8/6/26 Update: Disha is a Fighter Weeks ago, Disha was found lying alone in the darkness, barely able to move. Her body was covered in wounds. One of her hind legs had been shattered in a horrific open fracture, with bone exposed. She was severely emaciated, dangerously anemic, and her wounds were infested with maggots. We believe she had been struck by a vehicle, dragged along the road, and left there to suffer. Unable to escape, she was even attacked by other dogs while she lay helpless. When Disha arrived at our sanctuary clinic, she was fighting for her life. Her blood work revealed severe anemia, and she was simply too weak to survive the orthopedic surgery she so desperately needed. Before we could even think about repairing her shattered leg, we had to stabilize her, treat her infections, heal her wounds, improve her blood values, and help her regain the weight she had lost after weeks of suffering. Today, we finally have wonderful news to share. After weeks of intensive care, Disha has just had her third blood test, and we’re thrilled to say that her results have improved enough for surgery to finally go ahead. Even more incredibly, she has gained more than 4 kg (9 lbs) since her rescue—a remarkable transformation for a dog who was once little more than skin and bone. All of the wounds across her body have healed beautifully, her mange has completely cleared, and she looks like a different dog. She is brighter, stronger, and finally ready for the next step in her journey. In just a few days, Disha will undergo the orthopedic surgery to repair her shattered hind leg. We are so excited that she has reached this milestone, and we couldn’t be prouder of how hard she has fought to get here. Please keep Disha in your thoughts as she faces this next chapter. Cotton is a 2-year-old community cat who has been lovingly cared for, neutered, and vaccinated by a dedicated caretaker in his neighborhood. He’s not just another stray—he is known, loved, and looked after. Recently, his caretaker noticed something was seriously wrong with his tail. What appeared at first to be an injury turned out to be far more severe. Cotton’s tail was partially missing, degloved, and had sutures in place—indicating that someone had attempted to amputate his tail and then left him without any follow-up care. By the time he was brought to the vet, the remaining tissue had become necrotic and badly infected. \\\\\_\\\\\_Why He Needs Help\\\\\_\\\\\_ Cotton is now in urgent need of a full tail amputation to remove the dead and infected tissue and to stop the spread of infection. Without this surgery, he will continue to suffer and his condition could become life-threatening. She has even contributed financially toward his care, and we are incredibly grateful for her compassion and responsibility. Abandoned to Die When He Needed Help Most: Help Save Cole

Cole's story is one of heartbreaking betrayal. Not long ago, Cole was someone's beloved pet. He had a home, a family, and people who were supposed to care for him. But when he became seriously ill and veterinary treatment became expensive, he was abandoned. When we found Cole wandering the streets alone, he was still wearing an IV catheter and a tight bandage on his leg—a devastating reminder that he had recently been receiving veterinary care. We later learned that his owners had taken him to the veterinarian, refused to pay for the treatment he desperately needed, and simply left him outside to fend for himself. Confused, sick, and in pain, Cole was forced to survive on the streets while battling a severe viral infection affecting his jaw. Without treatment, the infection progressed relentlessly. Part of his jaw began to deteriorate. Several of his teeth were lost. The remaining teeth became severely infected and decayed. The odor coming from his mouth was overwhelming and heartbreaking. Unable to eat comfortably and suffering from extreme dehydration, Cole's condition continued to worsen. By the time Paws & Claws Animal Welfare found him, he was exhausted, starving, thirsty, and enduring unimaginable pain. We knew there wasn't a moment to lose. Cole was rushed immediately to the veterinary hospital and admitted to the ICU, where he is now receiving intensive medical care. He is being treated with fluids, medications, pain management, and supportive care as veterinarians work to stabilize his condition and give him a chance to recover. But Cole's journey is far from over. Once he is strong enough, he will likely require extensive oral surgery to remove the severely diseased teeth that remain and address the damage caused by the infection. His ongoing hospitalization, diagnostics, medications, and future procedures are creating significant veterinary expenses every single day. No animal deserves to be discarded when they become sick. No animal deserves to be abandoned simply because treatment costs money. Cole deserved better than what happened to him. Now he needs compassionate people to help him receive the care he was denied. Right now, our focus is helping Cole regain his strength and put on much-needed weight before he undergoes the extensive dental surgery he desperately needs. His damaged and infected mouth has made eating difficult for so long, so building his health back up is a crucial step before anesthesia and surgery can be performed safely. In addition to his oral health challenges, Cole has also been diagnosed with blood parasites and is receiving treatment for them. Our veterinary team is closely monitoring his progress and making sure he receives the medications, nutrition, and loving care he needs every day. Although Cole is no longer in the ICU, his journey isn't over. His upcoming dental procedure and ongoing medical treatment remain essential to relieving the pain he's endured for far too long and giving him the chance to enjoy a healthy, comfortable life again. While these improvements are incredibly encouraging, Cole's journey isn't over yet. He was dehydrated, weak, and fighting for his life. Today, that frightened, suffering cat is almost unrecognizable. Since his rescue, Cole has completed all of his prescribed medical treatments, successfully recovered from his illness, and reached another major milestone—he has been neutered and undergone the dental surgery he so desperately needed. During the procedure, veterinarians removed several painful, diseased teeth, finally giving Cole the relief he had gone without for far too long. His journey isn't quite over, but it's incredibly close. Over the coming weeks, Cole will receive his vaccinations, completing his veterinary care and making him officially fully vetted and ready for the bright future he deserves. None of this would have been possible without you. Gizmo came into my life in May 2016. I've had him from the very first day he was born & we've been through all things life TOGETHER.The last 2 photos says so much about our bond. The very last one was from 10 years ago when he was just a sweet kitten... my fur baby please help me get him in to the vet. I drove an hr away & tried taking him today but they wouldn't see him because I had no $. Right now, Gizmo is in severe pain & I'm not sure what is going on. He can barely stand or walk and I hate seeing him in pain. He’s had UTIs & struvite crystals in the past & I know his patterns & this is entirely different & affecting his ability to move. The way he is acting i know its serious & I don't want to lose him. This month marks exactly 10 years since Gizmo came into my life. I've had him ever since the day he was born & he has been my constant companion in every season....through every storm and a part of my every day life. He has brought so much joy in my life & I owe it to him to get him the care he needs but because of past vet bills & the price of everything especially gas I am financially drained. Because of his Struvite reoccurring Struvite crystals & utis over the past year & 1/2 & 3 separate vets i spent over 2000.00 in visits/treatments & it drained all my emergency savings. Help Spirit See a Brighter Future

At just six weeks old, Spirit was found lying on the hot asphalt in the drive-through of a bakery. He was lethargic and dehydrated, and both of his tiny eyes were crusted completely shut. This kitten was alone, unable to see, and urgently needed help. Gatos Borincoon rescued Spirit and rushed him to veterinary care. His condition was uncertain, he was hospitalized so he could receive the close attention and treatment he needed. After several days of care, Spirit began to perk up! He was finally showing everyone just how much fight was inside his little body. Spirit has since been discharged and is continuing antibiotic eye cream while recovering in the rescue’s care. He has also received his first dose of deworming medication and will return to the vet in one week for a recheck. Although his progress is encouraging, it is still too soon to know whether his eyes have suffered lasting damage. Spirit has already overcome a frightening start, but his journey is not finished. He will need continued medication, follow-up care, and careful monitoring as his rescuers learn more about his vision and overall health. He is scheduled for his follow up appointment on August 3rd, and he'll also be visiting the veterinarian this Thursday for a fecal test to make sure he's continuing to heal in every way. Lili was on my steps one cold and rainy winter's night when I arrived home after work. She'd been living in the alley behind my house, and my neighbor and I had been feeding her whole litter. Lili was waiting for me to arrive and let her in. How could I say no? She was tiny and covered in flea bites. I took her the vet, and she was diagnosed with skin allergies. She was 10 months old. At her most recent check up, the vet diagnosed Lili with a broken incisor and multiple impacted, unrooted teeth that need to be extracted. She was in pain and suffering from an infection, which was treated with antibiotics. Art City Vets in Philadelphia can and will perform the surgery Lili needs to end this medical emergency and live a good life, but it is extremely expensive. Lili is very small, so I named her Liliput after the Lilliputian people of Gulliver's Travels. She is sweet and shadows and cares for me. When I come home from work or errands, she is always waiting for me. She likes to sit in the window, observing life, and then to lounge with me on the couch at the end of the day. She is very good company, and I love her dearly. I'm a 73-year old woman on a small fixed income. I continue to work in a library to supplement my social security, enabling me to meet daily living expenses, including Lili's special diet. Your support will help Lilli live a better life and would mean the world to me.

This tiny kitten, now named Tortellini, was found dragging herself through the streets. At just 2.5 pounds at 4 months old, Tortellini should be playing as every kitten deserves. Instead, she had to fight pain just to move. Yet, she still tried to drag herself to safety, never losing her will to live. Tortellini was brought to Bond Vet in a box. At first, it was feared she had been hit by a car. But after examining her, the devoted veterinary team discovered something even more shocking. Tortellini is severely malnourished, with multiple old fractures and broken bones throughout her tiny body. Her legs are bowed, having never developed properly, likely due to profound nutritional deficiencies during the most critical stages of her growth. Her medical team immediately fell in love with this sweet soul, determined to give her the best chance to live, and reached out to A Pathway to Hope for help. They are urgently arranging advanced testing through Michigan State University and an appointment with an internal medicine specialist to determine what can be done to give this precious girl the chance at the life she's never had.
