What a transformation for Henry!
After everything this sweet boy has been through, we are thrilled to share that Henry has recovered from the infection that first brought him into our care and is now officially available for adoption!
Henry has been neutered, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, received his rabies and core vaccines, been dewormed, and kept on flea and tick prevention. From the painful abscess, inflammation, and rough coat he arrived with to the handsome cat he is today, his transformation has been incredible. His once-thin coat is now a shiny, velvety raven black, and judging by his recent bow tie photos, Henry seems more than ready for his next chapter.
His health isn't the only thing that has blossomed. Henry has made sure everyone knows exactly how much personality he has! Affectionate, social, and extremely vocal, his signature "Rawr meow" has earned him the fitting nickname "Sir Henry Rawrmeow." His foster family, rescue team, and even the veterinary staff have all fallen in love with his hilarious, talkative personality.
Now Henry is ready for his next big adventure: finding a loving family of his own.

Henry's story is one of resilience.
When Gatos Borincoon first found this friendly black cat living outdoors with a painful injury near his eye, they feared he might lose it. Then Henry disappeared, leaving everyone worried they would never see him again. Thankfully, he returned, and rescuers were able to trap him and rush him to the veterinarian.
The good news was that Henry's injury turned out to be an abscess above his eye that had burst near his eyelid, rather than a devastating eye injury. He immediately began treatment with injectable antibiotics and anti inflammatory medication to fight the infection and reduce the swelling.
Life on the streets had clearly taken its toll. Henry's body was covered in scratches, his coat was patchy, and he needed parasite treatment to help him begin healing from the inside out. Despite everything he had endured, he never lost his sweet personality. He quickly showed everyone that he loves attention, happily asks for food, and enjoys every bit of affection he can get.
Since starting treatment, Henry has made wonderful progress. His abscess has healed, his beautiful black coat is starting to grow back, and he is looking more like the healthy cat he was always meant to be. While he is doing much better, he isn't quite finished with treatment. His latest veterinary exam found lingering eyelid swelling and eye discharge, so he has been prescribed antibiotic eye ointment and will need another recheck to ensure the infection has completely resolved.
Once Henry receives the all clear from his vet, he will still need to be neutered, vaccinated, and prepared for foster care before he can begin searching for the loving forever home he deserves.
Gatos Borincoon primarily focuses on TNVR, but when an injured community cat like Henry needs more than trap, neuter, and return, they step in and give them every chance at a better life.
Henry has come so far, but his journey isn't over yet. Your donation will help cover his remaining veterinary care, medications, follow up appointments, neuter surgery, and vaccinations so this incredibly sweet boy can make a full recovery and finally leave life on the streets behind forever.
8/8/26 Update
After making such wonderful progress, Henry’s foster recently noticed more wet discharge coming from his forehead, and unfortunately, it appears his infection has not completely resolved. The abscess above his eye has started producing pus again, and while one of his eyes has healed, the other remains swollen and irritated.
At Henry’s latest follow up appointment his veterinary team performed cytology on both areas of discharge to get a better understanding of what is causing the ongoing infection. He has now been prescribed oral antibiotics and eye drops and will return to the vet for another follow up in two weeks.
Henry is also receiving another application of Revolution Plus as his care continues.
For now, his neuter surgery will have to wait. Henry cannot be neutered until his veterinarian is confident that the infection has cleared and gives him the OK to move forward.
It’s disappointing to see the infection return after Henry had been doing so well, but Gatos Borincoon is continuing to make sure he receives everything he needs to get through this. His foster is keeping a close eye on him, and we’re hopeful that this next round of treatment will finally get him one step closer to putting his days of infections, medications and life on the streets behind him.

Another big milestone is officially behind Henry! After having to postpone his neuter while he continued treatment for his lingering infection, Henry was finally healthy enough to move forward with his neuter surgery.
It’s wonderful to see him reach this point after everything he has been through. What started with a painful abscess above his eye, patchy fur, and the effects of life outdoors has turned into a journey toward a much healthier and more comfortable future.
With his neuter now complete, Henry’s fundraiser is also incredibly close to the finish line. We only need to raise another $56 to fully fund his campaign!

We have wonderful news to share about Henry! At his latest veterinary recheck, he was officially cleared of infection, and his vet is very happy with the progress he has made.
Henry is looking more handsome by the day. His fur has grown back soft and velvety, and his coat is becoming a beautiful, glossy black. A few thinner areas are still filling in, but he has come such a long way from where he started.
And as Henry has started feeling better, his personality has really had a chance to shine! He is incredibly vocal, outgoing, and full of character. He has been enjoying time in his catio, where he has plenty of room to relax, explore, and simply enjoy being Henry.
His next big milestone is his neuter, scheduled for September 7. Once he has recovered from surgery, Henry will officially be ready to begin the search for his forever home!

August 21, 2026
After his follow up vet visit, Henry's abscess has now completely closed, and one of his eyes is doing well. His other eyelid is still dealing with inflammation, so his medical team has advised continuing the antibiotic cream and eye drops. Lysine and probiotics have also been added to his diet to give him some extra support as he recovers.
Henry was also finally feeling well enough to receive his vaccinations, which is a great step forward. In about two weeks, he will return to have his left eye checked again, and his neuter will still need to be scheduled.
Even his appearance is beginning to show how far he has come. His fur is growing back and becoming soft and luxurious again after everything he has been through.
Henry is improving, but he still needs your help to get through the rest of his care. With another eye recheck and his neuter still ahead, his rescue continues to face expenses as they work to get him completely healthy. A little Henry moment to make you smile: his foster was cleaning when Henry decided to climb inside a kennel and pose like a little statue for this picture. We tried to get a video too, but apparently Henry wasn’t in a talking mood that day!
More importantly, we have some encouraging news about his recovery. Henry’s swelling has gone down, and the area around his wound is beginning to dry and heal. His second round of antibiotics seems to be helping more, and we’re very grateful to see him making progress.
We’re also so thankful to everyone who has donated and shared his story. Henry’s fundraiser is now almost 40% funded! That’s an incredible start, but we still have a ways to go to cover the care he needs.
