Help Cayenne get X-rays and Eye Pressure Testing

Called Kai for short by her loving caretakers, Cayenne, an elderly blue tick beagle, is more sweet than spicy! She was discovered as a stray, living under a truck for months after her humans cruelly failed her.

Kai’s initial issues included skin inflammation, a secondary infection from allergies, a benign lump under her chin and infections in both ears. X-rays show that she has right hip dysplasia, and her left rear leg has a luxating patella and is severely arthritic. She’s also anemic and has crystals in her urine. We promptly started treatment for both as well as therapy for degenerative joint disease.

When she arrived, we were concerned with the hypermature cataract in her blind left eye as her eye looked swollen and cataracts can lead to glaucoma. Thankfully, her eye pressure is normal in both eyes at this time but she has an immature cataract growing in right eye, and will eventually lose her vision completely. Cayenne will need regular eye pressure testing every few months.

We need to raise funds to cover the cost of x-rays and the eye pressure test.

On a more positive note: Kai LOVES being picked up and held and excels where grooming is concerned. An excellent patient and an exceptionally good beagle, she takes all of her medications like the charming champ she is. She loves her bed, keeps her bedding clean and is usually quiet, except at suppertime! AROO!
