About this campaign
On the side of a busy road, a frightened group of cats was found running through traffic, vulnerable to cars, predators, disease, and starvation. When the local Animal Control department responded, they discovered a heartbreaking scene: one adult mother cat and twelve tiny black kittens struggling to survive on their own.
Our rescue immediately stepped in, knowing these cats had nowhere else to go. The kittens are incredibly young and fragile, ranging from less than half a pound to only 1.5 pounds. Many arrived with eye infections and other medical concerns that require immediate treatment. Based on the kittens' varying ages and weights, we believe there may have originally been more than one mother caring for them, but only one adult cat was found with the group.
Since arriving in rescue, the kittens have already required extensive care. Two of the smallest kittens, Peanut and Pecan, recently returned to the veterinarian for additional treatment after continuing to struggle with eye issues and intestinal parasites. More comprehensive fecal testing revealed that their first round of deworming was not enough, and all twelve kittens will need multiple rounds of treatment to fully eliminate the parasites affecting their health.
Right now, our team is providing around-the-clock care, nutritious food, clean bedding, litter, medications, and veterinary attention to help these little ones recover and grow. But caring for thirteen cats is a tremendous undertaking.
In the coming weeks and months, every cat in this group will need:
• Veterinary examinations and ongoing medical treatment
• Multiple rounds of deworming and parasite prevention
• Treatment for eye infections and related complications
• Vaccinations
• FeLV/FIV testing
• Spay and neuter surgeries
• Nutritious food, litter, and daily care supplies
These cats were abandoned through no fault of their own. They deserved safety, love, and proper care from the beginning. Instead, they were left to fend for themselves beside a busy roadway.
With your help, their story can have a much happier ending. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps provide lifesaving veterinary care, food, medications, testing, and supplies for this vulnerable family. Together, we can give these thirteen cats the chance to grow up healthy, safe, and loved. Thank you for helping us turn abandonment into hope.
7/14/26 Update: Update on our Mom and 12 kittens
Wow! It’s been busy here at Paws 4 Life taking care of this big family! All our our volunteers worked tirelessly keeping all these kittens alive and healthy. We had to continue supplement feeding them with KMR, multiple vet visit, multiple extensive diarrhea panels, multiple rounds of deworming treatments and antibiotics, but we are finally at a good and stable place with all of them. All the older kittens have gotten fixed and most of them only have one more feline distemper vaccine to get (in their 3 round series). We have 2 more kittens left to fix and then we will be working hard at finding them the right forever homes. It’s amazing as to how much they love each other - we always find them all together in a huge kitten pile regardless of how much room them have to spread out. Our goal is to adopt them in pairs as they truly do love each other and we want to do what is best for them.
Thank you everyone who has donated and shared their story. Their lives did not start out good, but things have turned around for them and they will only have good things from this point forward.
8/1/26 Update
Our “Nuts” kittens are all ready for adoption! All have made significant strides since we took them into our care back in April. All have been fixed, fully vaccinated, tested for FeLV/FIV/Heartworm, microchipped and dewormed. They are all so friendly and we can’t wait for them to find their forever homes so that they can begin the next chapters of their lives.
