About this campaign
Some people go to unimaginable lengths just to avoid doing the right thing…
Abaco, a young cat barely 10 months old, was cruelly dumped at Adopt a Cat Foundation’s shelter on a blistering 98°F Florida day. Stuffed in a box with a flannel blanket, left in a corner of the parking lot just out of view of the shelter’s cameras, his abandonment was cruel and intentional.
By sheer luck, volunteers were on-site taking out the trash when they discovered the box—a little less than an hour after Abaco had been left to suffer in the suffocating heat. He was soaked and terrified. At first, volunteers wondered if it was just from stress… but the next day he began vomiting bile.
Whether his previous owners dumped him because he was already sick—or he became sick from being left in the sweltering heat—we’ll never know. What we do know is that Abaco urgently needs medical care. When he first arrived, Abaco was fractious and terrified—traumatized by what he’d endured.
After just 24 hours of gentle care and safety, he has already begun to melt into the loving, sweet boy he truly is. Abaco didn’t deserve to be treated like trash—and now he’s counting on us to make sure his story has a happy ending.
UPDATE 8/9/25
Abaco thankfully stopped throwing up and his vet exam went very well. His bloodwork is great and he is healthy and young. Now all he needs is to get neutered, dewormed, and finish his vaccines.
