About this campaign
Abby is a 7 year old terrier mix that lives in rural NH with her family. She was rescued from the Animal Rescue League of NH when she was 3 years old and fulfilled our dream of adding a dog to our family. I was searching for dogs to adopt and when I came across Abby's profile, I knew she would be perfect for our family. She has been a blessing in more ways than I imagined.
Since Abby has come into our lives she has become a true member of the family. I have an autistic son so I homeschool my children. Abby literally helps me raise these kiddos. She helps with calming my son's meltdowns, playtime, our math curriculum (see pictures) and has the gentlest spirit. She is very patient and I think she truly enjoys letting the kids involve her in their games.
Abby keeps us all laughing. She is always hungry in between meals. We have her on a strict diet but she has earned a couple nicknames like The Pancake Pilferer and Buttersticks because she is incredibly quick and sneaky at stealing food. She has been none to eat entire sticks of butter...with the wrapper. She is very food motivated! She loves walks but mostly loves off leash running in the woods!
Abby recently went for her check up and her vet unfortunately found a mast cell tumor. She is advising we have it removed as soon as possible. She is on Benedryl to keep the tumor from releasing histamine until we can afford the surgery. Two nights ago her whole body broke out in terrible hives and I am worried about her health. She is seen as Cheshire Animal Hospital in Swanzey, NH.
When we adopted Abby we were in a financially secure spot. My husband's job provided plenty and we had savings. In 2020 he lost his job and now 2 years later, everything is depleted. My boys are young. If something happened to Abby they would be devastated. We need help.
