About this campaign
Adora, a sweet Beagle, has endured unimaginable pain — and now she needs your help to heal. A heartbreaking plea came from a fellow volunteer animal group in Kentucky about a dog whose foot had been caught in a painful trap. The injury was devastating. The tissue between her toes had been stripped away, leaving bone exposed. She was in such severe pain that she even attempted to chew off her own foot. Her owner, believing there was no hope, considered ending her life with a fatal shot to “put her out of her misery.”
Thankfully, compassionate rescuers intervened just in time. They rushed her to a veterinarian, where she arrived in shock. The veterinary team worked quickly to stabilize her, clean the wound, run bloodwork, and start antibiotics and pain medication. While amputation of her leg was initially recommended, the rescue group had already exhausted their funds and reached out to One By One for help.
Adora was then transferred to Ashland Animal Clinic, where there was finally a glimmer of hope. Despite the severity of her injury, the pad on the bottom of her foot remained intact. This gives the veterinary team the opportunity to attempt a delicate surgery — amputating behind her toes while preserving the pad, which could allow Adora to retain use of her leg instead of losing it entirely.
This brave girl has already been through so much, but she’s fighting. With your support, Adora has a chance not only to survive, but to walk comfortably and enjoy a happy life.Your donation will help cover the cost of Adora’s life-changing surgery and care.
Every contribution, no matter the amount, brings her one step closer to healing and keeping her leg. Adora’s future now depends on compassion and community. Please consider donating to help this resilient girl get the second chance she deserves.
5/18/26 Update
Because of your incredible compassion and support, Adora’s story has the happy ending we were all hoping for.
When Adora first came to rescue, she was suffering from a devastating injury after her foot became trapped, leaving exposed bone, severe tissue damage, and unimaginable pain. She arrived terrified, in shock, and fighting just to survive. At one point, it seemed like she might lose her leg — or even her life.
But thanks to the quick actions of rescuers, dedicated veterinary care, and the generosity of donors like you, Adora was given a chance.
After undergoing surgery to save as much of her leg as possible, Adora began the long road to recovery. Day by day, she healed. The brave little Beagle who once could barely endure the pain slowly transformed into a happy, comfortable dog again. And now, we are overjoyed to share the best update of all: Adora is fully healed and has been adopted into a loving home.
This once-suffering girl now has the future she always deserved — filled with safety, comfort, love, and the freedom to run and enjoy life again. None of this would have been possible without the kindness of people who chose to care when Adora needed it most.
From all of us at One By One, thank you for making Adora’s second chance possible. Your donations helped provide emergency veterinary care, surgery, pain management, and the recovery support that changed her life forever.
Because of you, Adora’s story did not end in tragedy. It ended with healing, hope, and a family to call her own.
