About this campaign
Agave came into our household when our 10 year old son was an infant. We had a baby teething and a puppy teething at the same time. Our son was diagnosed with autism and epilepsy a couple years later & Agave become his service animal. She has been a companion to all of the children and family members in the home as well. She has been loyal and loving for the past decade, sweet like agave nectar.
Agave used to sleep at the foot of our bed when she was a puppy, but she prefers to sleep in the common area, warning us of any strangers near the door or of our son with autism attempting to elope. She is a wonderful communicator of any happenings around the home, but is otherwise very quiet and calm. She loves being cuddled with and getting special attention or praise.
Agave is a special dog, that has always fit in with our family. We love seeing her getting excited about the little things, as she has experienced life with us throughout all the little and big moments we've had as a family.
Our dog has mammary cancer that is quickly advancing, and is now severe. We were trying to find funds for surgery to try to remove the mass, but were also unsure of what the best course of action would be. She is still eating and drinking well (& finding joy in things), and we believe she could have some more quality time with her service human and our family if she could have the surgery done.
If we cannot get her an emergency surgery, then we will have to put her down as soon as possible. We have been having a financial hardship due our teenage son's health issues as well, which have resulted in a significant amount of missed work/income.
