About this campaign
In February 2016 I saw a floppy eared, black puppy from K9’s 4U named Hather. When I picked her up in Illinois from a family fostering her, their giant hounds were flinging her in the air as play. She loved it and was perfect.
When we arrived home to Madison, her nickname was Little Lady until I decided a name for her. I looked up a list of German names and chose Aili. We live with a cat, Mishi.
Aili was admitted on Thursday, May 15th after over 2 months of declining health. She is in the ICU at UW seeing Dr.Braman who is treating her for acute liver injury, mouth and rectal ulcers, and muscle wasting caused by neuromuscular degeneration. She has an NG tube and a jugular IV for plasma transfusions. With our ongoing search for a diagnosis, her stay will include CT/MRI scans and 3 biopsies.
Some of Aili’s favorite things include a crusty green frog, her Auntie Katie, hikes with Poppy, and being outside. She’s extremely friendly, loves being around people and all animals, is personable, is excited for visitors, and will take any opportunity to press her cheek to your face for 1000 kisses. Her love for the outdoors is infectious, leading to countless memories though every season.
I work full time, am a grad student, and live alone on a single income. I have spent my savings on our testing so far and have reached my limit. The doctor is hopeful for full recovery, and to have Aili home means that I will continue to have adventures with my best friend.
