About this campaign
Akira came into my life 3 months after I lost my Japanese Akita, "Akito," whom I had for 10 years. Akira is a rescue, but really, it turns out she rescued me. Akira is my emotional support in every which way. Last year, I lost my twin brother, which was very hard for me. Akira is what kept me going-- her love is unconditional and extremely comforting. I need her.
Akira is the sweetest with everyone at home. She is very calm and affectionate. Sometimes she gets a little bossy with mom and yells at me for treats (see video attached). Akira is only 44 lbs and bullies her younger brother, lox, who is an 84 lbs Boxer. He is terrified of her for some reason, but it's the cutest thing because she gives him tough love. Together, they bark at strangers.
What makes me laugh so much is her bossy behavior. She is the QUEEN and she knows it. She "yells" at me whenever she wants treats or cuddles. Her yelling sounds a lot like "Chubaca." It's really weird, and cute as well. Please see video. She's also very petite, yet she dominates her 84 lbs younger brother Lox.
Akira was diagnosed 2 years ago with a very RARE condition known as Chylothorax. After a few trips to get her chest tapped, she finally started getting better, and miraculously, her symptoms disappeared. Recently; however, the fluid (chyle) returned aggressively, and we've had to get her chest tapped 3 times thus far in a very short matter of time. She needs a very expensive surgery to save her.
I have been unemployed for a year, as it has been difficult to find work. Finally, I got a great job, but I literally just started working last week. If her symptoms would disappear for a bit, I could save some money for her surgery, but it's aggressive, so I can't wait.
