About this campaign

My husband Donavon and I rescued Aldo from Help for Homeless pets. He was the last of the litter and we immediately fell in love with this Coon hound/Border Collie mix. We named him Aldo, named after Aldo Leopold the father of modern conservation, since we care deeply about the environment and nature. He has a brother a 12 year old,110lb yellow lab named Rowdy.

In August of 2023 Aldo got very sick, it took weeks and two vets to find out he is dying of kidney and liver failure, mostly likely due to poisoning. He is a regular at Grand Ave Animal Hospital where he gets regular bloodwork and has started epoinin injections. His condition is getting worst and he has many good days but also a lot of bad ones.

Aldo loves to snuggle. In fact, he is the most affectionate dog I have ever met. He doesn't lick that much but instead hugs with his whole body, at night he has to lay his head over my legs, stomach or chest. He also holds a full time position as Squirrel Patrol where he protects the house and family from the fox squirrels that live in the backyard.

Aldo's injections cost $500 for a two week dose, this is the only way to give him a better quality of life while he is still with us. He also needs special kidney food, regular bloodwork and vet visits plus we also have a senior dog (Rowdy) who has cancer and arthritis.
