Rescued From an Empty Water Tank — Alfie Needs Us Now

When the ACF Animal Rescue team found Alfie, he was in a terrifying and heartbreaking situation. Somehow — whether he fell or was pushed — Alfie ended up trapped in an empty, uncovered water tank with no way to escape. Skinny, exhausted, and terrified, he pressed himself against the wall, trying to make himself invisible.

To make matters worse, children had been throwing stones at him while he was trapped, leaving him confused, frightened, and unsure if anyone in the world meant him kindness. We are incredibly grateful we found him when we did.

Our team worked quickly to get Alfie out of the tank and into safety. He was understandably scared, unsure of people, and hesitant to trust — and we don’t blame him. After everything he’s endured, it will take time for his heart to heal.

Now that Alfie is safe, he needs ongoing veterinary care, nutritious food, behavioral support, and time in a calm environment to help him fully recover — both physically and emotionally.

We are so grateful to share that Alfie is doing really well.

After being trapped in an uncovered water tank—terrified, emaciated, and treated with cruelty—Alfie has made remarkable progress. He has healed beautifully, and seeing him now feels nothing short of incredible. He’s wagging his tail, relaxed, and showing signs of real happiness as he settles into his forever home at our new sanctuary.

But Alfie’s journey isn’t finished yet.

While his healing has been amazing, his care is ongoing and costly. Alfie still needs continued veterinary monitoring, quality nutrition, behavioral support, and the stability of sanctuary care to ensure he never has to suffer again. Alfie is doing incredibly well and truly thriving. These days he can’t stop smiling. His tail is always wagging, and he looks completely at peace. Seeing him so happy is almost hard to believe when we remember the terrified dog we first rescued.
