Hi! This is my youngest pet baby Alkaios. He’s 1y 8months and on the 19th, he got injured extremely suddenly. We took him to the ER and was told it was a pulled groin and go from there. Since that visit, this week we’ve been to the ER 3 times and the vet 2 times due to him unable to urinate . We were finally able to afford x-rays and were informed he has a fractured femur and a potentially injured nerve in his spine causing urinary retention. This has been the most emotionally charged week of my whole families life. Alkaios is our baby and him and his older cat brother, Naos, have both been stressed and in pain with this abrupt change. We were informed we needed MRI’s first to proceed with the hip surgery that’s needed, but MRI’s are $7,000+. We were told to give it the weekend and are expected to make a unchangeable decision and I can’t do that to him. Alkaios has been there for me since he’s been here at 3 months of age, he was a rescue that was left all alone and would scream the moment there was nobody in sight. He became so close with my oldest cat and they’ve been cuddling and inseparable ever since he came home.

I’ve had so many losses these past years including having to put down my dog of 4 years due to a disc rupture who was there for me through the hardest years and I vowed to do everything I could if I got another pet (and I’m now here with two amazing cats). This year, I ended up being unable to continue working at my job due to health and my families’ health as well. My grandma ended up passing away followed by losing friends, and then my aunt passed. I will do anything to prevent another loss, especially not Alkaios who is the light of any room he walks into.

He loves rubs, treats, playing with dogs and cats, eating, watching any animal shows, listening to pitbull, carrying around his emotional support fish toy, and so so much more. He has so much to offer and he’s still just a baby. I don’t want to lose him and I’m unsure of how everyone will cope, especially his cat brother and I.
