Ally is a 6-year-old Lab/Pit Mix in Prospect, VA, who needs $750 for Cancer Removal.

Ally came into our lives through my niece. She fostered her for the weekend from Lynchburg Humane Society. She stayed with us for the night and my kids and I fell in love with her. It was obvious someone had spent some time training her as she was house trained (except for a few accidents which I think was because she was in a strange place) and knew basic commands.

My niece was unable to take care of Ally so we adopted her. We were in love. She finally had a home with us. My son (as you see pictured) cuddles with Ally almost every night. My daughters are just as smitten by her. She lives a good life spending about half of her time outside in a country setting and the other half inside! Ally is a prominent part of our family (curled up at my feet as I type)!

I recently lost my job due to Covid and I am a single mother of three kids. Ally had helped fill a void we had in our lives and is not a pet but a family member and protector. To have her healthy again will ensure she has many years with us but most importantly her health.

Soon after we adopted Ally we had her checked at Ridge Animal Hospital and found out she had cancerous lumps. She had to have 5 different spots removed. She was x-rated and the cancer was not internal. Two years later, we went back to vet and she has another cancerous growth. The humane society had told us we could do hospice care but ended up helping with the initial surgery. Here we are again.

Ally is a very loving dog to people but does not care for other animals. This may have been one of the reasons she was in the shelter so long. She is very protective of her family and spends her time playing and being spoiled by the kids and I. She does have a habit of humping strangers which I think is her way of trying to establish dominance (but the reaction of those strangers is priceless)!
