Princess Amber was my neighbors puppy when I moved into my current home. We watched her grow up and developed a relationship almost like grandparents she would visit with returning from walks. We bought her treats and toys, and when my neighbor could no longer care for her, we opted to offer our home to her. She is now a part of our family, and she is living out her middle age with me and my mom.

Amber sleeps in her crate, which is adorned with pillows and a tapestry to give her the feeling she is in a day bed. She hasn’t roamed around the house in months due to her illness, but she takes long walks with me where we visit the other pups around the neighborhood daily to let them know she is on watch. She is my best dog friend and my mother considers Amber her beloved grandchild.

Ambers face is that of a Virgo, like me and whatever she feels it is literally written on her house. Her adopted mom has a photo collection to rival vaudeville. She is protective most of me, her dad and “cuddle time with kisses” is our fave moments. “Tummy rubs” are a hourly necessity when I am home, and her finicky nature will make her snarf if her chosen meal is not prepared to her liking.

Amber started bleeding rectally a few days ago, and we assumed it was menstruation. Once a pool of blood formed repeatedly, we took her to Capital Blvd Animal Hospital and Pet Inn for treatment. They gave her fluids for dehydration, and basic urgent care but she is internally hemorrhaging from an unknown condition, and we are seeking fund for additional testing and treatment.

I am unemployed and without a car, and my mother is 80 years old. We pay $300 HOA feees monthly, and can’t afford the $1500 it will take to help Amber. We just lost her adopted brother a Corgi from another neighbor in need of a rescue home, and Amber is our shining light.
