Amex is a 14-year-old Miniature Dachshund in State College, PA, who needs $1,000 for Fungal Liver Abscess Treatment.

We've had Amex since he was 4 months old. He grew up with two silky terriers, a golden retriever, and two huskies. The silky terriers have passed away. The golden retriever is his best friend—she had osteosarcoma and left us in October 2020. Amex is currently the oldest and smallest dog in the house but with a big personality. He doesn't like strangers and will bark.

Amex spends most of the day lounging around. He is a bit picky with his human interactions and would prefer to be with one person at a time. He takes time for him to warm up to strangers. He still enjoys going out for short walks and car rides and is always looking for a bed. He needs more patience and understanding in handling him these days but still brings so much love, comfort, and attitude.

He's been placid even as a puppy. He doesn't move even when he get his anal glands expressed and has never needed to be sedated for an ultrasound! But for food, he turns into an unstoppable, highly charged, demanding boss.

The vets know he is ready to go home once he starts "calling for service" (e.g., asking them to change the soiled pee pad, cuddles, etc). Won't pee outside if it's raining

We are looking to cure a rare but treatable liver abscess caused by yeast as well as help dealing with ongoing chronic pancreatitis. Amex has done more than 40 days of antifungal treatment at his regular vet since being discharged from the hospital. He needs follow up scans for an indefinite period if the abscess continues to improve; if it worsens, he will need liver surgery.

The unexpected vet bills have added a lot of stress to my life. It would mean the world to me to not have to worry about the financial burden of Amex's medical expenses. I would sell my lungs for him—but a vet friend said that wouldn't be enough to cover his medical bills.
