I adopted Amity from the AHS last fall when she was 8y/o. She was seized from her last home by the police due to poor living conditions. It was clear she didn’t have access to proper food due to her matted, dull fur, and being 16lbs. She’s now thriving! She’s almost at her goal weight and her fur is glossy. However, her care history (or lack thereof) is causing a lot of financial stress now.

Likely due to poor nutrition for her first 8 years, Amity has severe dental disease. She needs some extractions and extensive cleaning. I knew she had dental concerns when I adopted her so I began saving right away but the situation has become urgent more quickly than expected and I don’t have nearly enough put away. She receives her care at Mission Animal Hospital in Eden Prairie, MN.

Over the last 9 months I’ve seen my little girl transform from a skittish, anxious cat to confident, affectionate, playful, and hilarious! She makes me laugh every day. She forgets that her tail is attached to her (see video) and gets mad at it! She loves head boops, making blanket caves, stealing my yarn, knocking things out of my hands so I pet her, and attacking birds on the TV. She’s my joy.

Last month Amity got a bladder stone which was 3 vet trips and prescription food. That was 1/3 of my monthly income. Her last visit showed that her teeth needed urgent help projected to be almost $2k. I’m struggling to stay afloat.
