Amos is an 8-year-old English Mastiff in Minneapolis, MN, who needs $2,000 for TECA/BO surgery (total ear canal ablation and bulla osteotomy).

Amos was 13 weeks when he became ours . We were told he had ear trouble and vet visits tried to keep ear infections at bay. An allergist has been treating him the past two years. The left horizontal ear canal is swelling and closing trapping infection that she can no longer reach. It is now time for TECA/BO surgery. She said his health is otherwise good and Amos will still hear us loving him.

Amos is a very good boy. He sleeps wherever he wants, on his bed, in Dads bed, couches or floor. He is a great protector and knows his Mama has had a stroke. He keeps his eye on her and any personal care providers that come in. If either of us are away from the house he waits by the window for them to come home. He wags his tail in excitement when the three of us are safely home together again.

We each worked over 40 years, but acquired health conditions that forced us on SSDI. It has been a nightmare. Neither of us are well with our baby not healthy. We are afraid for his surgery, but will see it through with faith and with doctors that have become our friends.

Amos's bad ears have worsened with age, but hopefully after surgery and healing he will not need antibiotics, prednisone, or as many biopsies for treatment under sedation. His left ear won't smell and he will not constantly shake his head trying to remove the infectious invaders. He is seen by VCA in Richfield, Haarstad Vet Derm in Maple Grove. Amos is afraid of thunder and fireworks. His favorite sport is treats. We usually have a variety to choose from and rejects some by turning his head. He loves handmade decorated treats that we order. It is funny to see how old, wise, and spoiled he is. Due to his color he was named after Famous Amos cookies, and while growing up has been nicknamed Monkey, Big Boy, Big, Biggie, and now Treat Boy.
