About this campaign

This is Houston Rescue

Apollo was found in a ditch after he was intentionally hit by a car. The car never slowed down or tried to avoid hitting him. His little 25 lb body was no match for the car, and he sustained a severe spinal fracture: a L6 vertebral fracture and luxation which made him immobile.

In addition to that, he has sarcoptic mange which is contagious to humans and other animals. He needed spinal stabilization surgery and the surgeon was worried about infection from the mange. But he needed immediate surgery, so we had to proceed.

He is doing well post surgery but still has a long road ahead. We hope he will make a full recovery but time will tell. Despite his unimaginable suffering, he is such a sweetheart and loves to give the vet staff kisses. Apollo may be small but he has a big spirit.

ThisIsHouston is on a mission to bring awareness to the stray overpopulation problem in Houston and help strays like Apollo. Please consider donating to help Apollo on his road to recovery!
