Apollo is a 7 year old Leonberger in Livonia, MI, who needs $2,000 for Enterotomy.

Apollo was adopted from The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas in 2019 to join our family as a big brother to our other rescue who had been poorly socialized. Since then he has been a Rescue Ambassador helping to heal appx 100 foster dogs. He and his brother Zeus have ridden shotgun with their mom who is a Nurse whose job has taken her all over the country over the past 5 years.

Apollo made a bad choice and ate something he shouldn’t have. He’s not usually a chewer but he couldn’t resist the taste of Espoma fertilizer that was on his mom’s garden glove. It is not known when this happened but on Halloween he became sick and when he didn’t recover overnight, he was taken to Veterinary Emergency Service where lifesaving surgery was performed to remove the foreign body.

Apollo lives in our home with 3 other Rescue dogs and 3 rescue cats. He loves to “herd” his siblings and sometimes even his humans by playfully grabbing ankles. He is closely bonded to his mom and is most happy sitting on the couch next to her. He is the most gentle soul and is the true heart of his family.

Apollo’s emergency was extremely costly and came at the worst possible time. His mom is a govt employee and is impacted by the shut down. It is also the 3rd costly medical emergency for our fur babies in 6 months. Saving his life was a must but we could use a little help.
