About this campaign
We got April seven and a half years ago. Someone was giving her away. She was maybe 5 weeks old and we were already her third home. She has a (dog) sister who is two years older than she is. She will sit and stare at you when she wants something. She'll even start to whine. She's only ever been sick one other time in her life. She's been such an easy dog to have and to love.
April loves to go hiking. A regular park won't do for her, she gets bored. She almost always has a ball in her mouth. She's not big on fetch, she mostly wants someone to chase her while she plays keep away with it. She loves to love. She'll get right in your face, giving kisses and wagging her whole body.
April is the most dog-like dog I've ever met. She likes to chew on sticks, and ball is life. She is a stereotypical big dog, afraid of everything from thunderstorms to plastic bags. She also thinks she's smaller than she is and tries to fit in tiny places. She's just the best dog, always happy, always smiling and ready to love on you. She is sunshine.
On October 6th, April had to have a life-saving, emergency surgery. She had her spleen removed. A tumor had ruptured, causing abdominal bleeding. April went to the oncologist on October 21st. We were told that with chemotherapy, there is a chance the cancer won't come back. She was seen at Charlotte Animal Referral and Emergency, by Dr. Hofer.
April getting sick was not something I had prepared for. Her emergency surgery took more than the funds that we had. Adding five rounds on chemotherapy on top of that is just more than we have. She is the best dog though and she deserves to be well.
