Argos is a 7-year-old Labrador in Rumford, RI, who needs $2,000 for Foreign Body Surgery.

Argos was named after the dog of Greek myth, Odysseus’ loyal companion who waited ten years for Odysseus to return from war. Even only knowing Argos for a short time we knew he would be loyal and strong, and he has surely lived up to his name. He lives at home with us, his human-family of five, his little brother Odie, who is also a rescued black lab, a cat named Taxi and a bunny named Baby Bun.

Argos starts every day demanding his breakfast. No matter what other activities fill his day, whether it’s going on a walk to his favorite park, going to the beach, or playing with his little brother Odie, Argos’ favorite part of the day is to eat! Other than that, he loves to be outside. He often will just sit in the grass and close his eyes, enjoying the breeze and sunlight.

What makes Argos special is his bravery, strength, and intelligence. He is definitely the strongest and smartest member of our family, humans included. Although at first glance his size can be daunting, he is the most caring and kind soul. If there ever was a gentle giant, it would be Argos. He is the best at giving hugs, and despite how silly his little brother can be, he’s always so patient.

Argos is currently being treated at Mass-RI Veterinary services to remove a piece of his favorite toy he unfortunately swallowed. Argos has a history of Lupus and Epilepsy, so he is a very sensitive dog. He was most recently in the emergency vet with Pneumonia only a few weeks ago. He also has had two previous surgeries on his abdomen, so each is becoming more and more risky to his health.

Argos’ medical expenses have exceeded $10,000 for our family. Argos is our family, and we are doing everything we can to keep him here with us. However, two of our family members also have declining physical health, making our income extremely limited.
