Ariel Survived Unthinkable Cruelty

Ariel’s story is the kind of cruelty we don’t want to believe is real. This terrified little girl was brought to animal control with a severe respiratory infection and horrifying wounds.

Chunks of skin were sloughing off Ariel's tiny body. Her fur was matted to raw, painful patches. According to the woman who had been feeding her, she had watched children throw liquid on Ariel days earlier. Her wounds look like chemical burns.

Ariel needed immediate help, so RBARI stepped in without a second thought. ❤️

Ariel is ear-tipped, meaning at some point she was trapped, spayed, and released. Despite those good intentions, Ariel was still hurt by humans. By the time she reached the shelter, she was so scared and painful that an exam wasn’t possible. She was rushed to the hospital for a sedated exam, diagnostics, and wound care. After suffering so much pain, every moment mattered for Ariel.

Her body tells the story of what she endured. But her eyes tell the story of a cat who wants to live and hopes to trust.

Ariel is receiving intensive medical treatment to treat her burns, manage infection, ease her pain, and support her fragile immune system. Healing chemical wounds is slow, painful, and expensive, but Ariel deserves every chance at comfort after what was done to her.
