Arissa is my little mixed breed 5 year old Blue Tick Hound. She was a save dog who has brought so much joy and comfort into my life. I adopted Arissa and her littermate Prescott at the same time and they bounded with life and joy together until Prescott was killed on a bright Sunday morning by a large almost 6 foot long Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake. We were all devastated.

Arissa has always been the center of our household since I adopted her. She has her own bowl, her own large chair, her spot at the table and sleeps with me. She loved her sister Prescott and both always traveled with me in the car. We have other save animals including cats who Arissa adores and gets along with quite nicely. They all miss her.

I have expended all of my savings on her care and her insurance is running out. She means all to me and is all I have for joy and companionship. If she cannot complete her treatment including dialysis for a few more days, she will lose her life. If I lose her, I lose me.

Arissa and Prescott were out running in the yard on a beautiful Sunday morning coming down when Prescott was bitten by the rattlesnake. It appears Arissa may have been struck but at the time had no visible injury. Since then , she developed a draining puncture wound at her right elbow All has gone downhill since. Now she has kidney issues but is responding to costly treatment to save her life.

Arissa makes me smile and feel good inside just to see her wag her tail and paw me for attention any time of day or night. She is a sweet faithful friend, my child, my daughter, and housemate. She plays a little game when I feed her. She guards her food until a cat tries to take it away then she becomes Queen of the Hill.
