About this campaign
Asher was originally going to live on a ranch in Wyoming with another family member. Unfortunately, the existing ranch dogs wouldn't accept him into the pack and kept attacking him. For his safety, my family member asked us to take him. We were broke college kids at the time but wanted to give him a safe home. He has been with us for about 5 years now.
Asher has a wonderfully active life with his two humans and other (dog) brother, Kodah. We go on all kinds of adventures in the Rocky mountains. He loves hiking, camping, swimming, kayaking, biking and car rides! His most favorite thing in the world is toys, especially his ball! He gets along with other dogs perfectly as long as they want to play with him too!
This is a sudden expense that we couldn't predict. Unfortunately our student debt and other debts put us in a hard spot to give him the best treatment. I don't want him to be in any pain just because I don't have the means to help him.
We noticed a sore in his mouth and took him into a vet right away to get checked out. After an x-ray and biopsy it was confirmed he had squamous cell carcinoma. We were devastated, because the statistics aren't good and he's so young. We are taking him to his first CT scan at VCA veterinarian services in Northern Colorado this week to find out how far along it is.
Asher is 100% a dog. I know that sounds weird to say but it's funny since our other dog is a cat personality stuck in a dog's body. Asher never gets tired of playing, he is athletic, unrelenting with tug-of-war, loves protecting the yard of squirrels, and generally just a loveable character. The only thing he loves more than ball is food!
