Help Astra Get the Ongoing Care She Needs to Live the Life She Deserves

Astra’s journey has been one of heartbreak, resilience, and hope. When her beloved owner passed away, Astra’s world was turned upside down. Confused and grieving, she found herself alone in a county shelter—sick, scared, and in danger. Suffering from a heart murmur and ringworm, she was placed on the euthanasia list.

Thankfully, Adopt A Cat Foundation stepped in just in time, saving Astra and giving her a second chance at life. Since then, she’s received treatment for her ringworm, and her beautiful black coat is shining again. She’s been surrounded by love and care—but her medical journey isn’t over yet.

Recently, Astra was diagnosed with a liver condition that requires ongoing monitoring and medication. In addition, she’s been showing signs of discomfort from arthritis in her hip, likely the result of years of neglect before coming into rescue. These new challenges mean Astra needs continued veterinary care, pain management, and supportive treatments to help her stay comfortable and healthy.

1/25/26 Update

We have an important update on Astra.

Recently, our volunteers noticed that Astra wasn’t acting like herself. She began losing her appetite and appeared increasingly lethargic—clear signs that something wasn’t right. Out of an abundance of caution, she was rushed to the emergency veterinarian for immediate evaluation.

At the emergency clinic, Astra was found to be running a fever, was anemic, and showed signs consistent with an underlying infection. Given her medical history, the veterinary team felt it was safest to hospitalize her overnight so she can receive supportive care and be closely monitored while additional diagnostic testing is performed to determine the cause.

Astra is currently being treated to stabilize her condition as the team works to get answers and adjust her care plan accordingly. While this is a concerning setback, she is exactly where she needs to be, receiving the medical attention and support she deserves.

Astra has already survived so much loss and hardship, and she continues to fight with quiet strength. We will share updates as we learn more, and we are hopeful that with prompt care and continued treatment, she can begin to feel better soon.
