About this campaign

Athena came to us six years ago as a birthday gift for my son, and she quickly chose us as her people. She is very energetic, loving, and protective of us and her home. She is spoiled rotten, loves treats and gets along with all the other animals we have. She loves to go on car rides and is pretty much the center of attention.

Athena has her own couch, bed in the bedroom, her special bed in the back seat of my truck. She loves treats and we play "find the treats", she also loves playing "can't catch me". She has a awesome personality, when she wants something she has a few different whimpers, whines, growls, and whimpers. She knows when we're not feeling well and she will be affectionate and even gives hugs.

Athena has more dog and cat friends, as well as human friends and is very protective of all of us. She even patrols our property we call it "ON GUARD". But now with only three legs it's going to be hard for her to patrol.

About 1 year ago we noticed a bump on her rear leg. That lump was mass cell tumor and began growing rapidly. Her first surgery the Vet removed 4 tumors. A few months later tumors came back AGGRESSIVELY. She had her rear leg amputated, and the Vet is suggesting 8 rounds of chemo to be proactive. The local Vet, Brookfield Veterinarian referred us to VA Tech where she had the surgery.

We have jobs, but cost of living is so high now that it's very difficult to come up with the cost of amputation and chemo. Athena is my best friend/service dog as I am a Veteran suffering with PTSD and I don't know what I'd do if I lost my best friend.
