Athena is a 6 year old American Pit Bull Terrier in Wilmington, NC, who needs $1,500 for Pain Management, Arthritis Care, Recovery Therapy.

I got Athena when I was 17 in high school still I rescued her from a breeder she was the runt very small, but she waited patiently until I picked her up. I knew nothing about raising a dog, I took her everywhere. Trained her myself watched videos, worked just to feed her. Here we are 6 years later.

1.5-2 years ago she got Lyme disease and it weakened her joints and muscles and caused her CCLs to rupture. At the time I could only afford medication. But now it’s affecting her attitude and I finally was able to get her fixed but a fight between her and my dog broke out and I stepped in and she accidentally bit me. I’m worried she’s is in too much pain and I don’t want to give her up or put her down.

My dog has been here for 6 years, she’s been by my side through an abusive break up, my dad passing away and my nana. Who all loved her so much. Everyone loves Athena and she gets spoiled by so many. Because I’ve taken her everywhere with me when I was young. She has inspired so many people to rescue pit bulls.

I just had a daughter 10mo ago and every time I save up to take Athena to the vet to get her fixed there is a new issue and I spend the money on that. Finally I got her fixed but her pain caused a fight to break out and she accidentally bit me. Now I am on edge worried
