Wounded, exhausted, and broken, Atlas wandered back and forth searching for relief that never came—until the day our team at Baw Baw Animal Welfare found him. Seeing him in such a heartbreaking state was devastating. No innocent soul should ever have to endure such pain.

From the moment Atlas entered our care, we knew we had to fight for him. His wounds were cleaned, treated, and medicated. He was started on antibiotics, and after just a week, his breathing was stable, his wounds were healing, and treatment for mange was added to his care. He is gaining weight and responding positively to all treatments—a true testament to his resilience and will to survive.

Atlas’s story is one of survival against cruelty, but now, with the love and care of Baw Baw Animal Welfare, he has a real chance at a future filled with safety, comfort, and kindness.

Atlas’s recovery is underway, and we’re beginning to see hopeful signs of healing. The painful wounds left by the heavy chain are slowly closing, though they’re still fresh and fragile. Our team is watching him closely, making sure he stays comfortable and cared for every step of the way. After everything he’s endured, Atlas finally knows what it feels like to be safe—and we’re determined to keep it that way.
