About this campaign
I rescued Atlas in January from a man who had 7 German Shepherds who were constantly attacking him. When I picked him up, he was covered in scabs and scars. He also didn't know what a treat was and when I threw him toys they landed at his feet. Over the past 9 months, he has learned to love people (including kids), toys, treats, hikes, and playing with other dogs.
Atlas is an escape artist who also loves to play with his Mal brother Apollo! They are extreme adventure buddies who really love going on long hikes with their dog mom followed by a cuddle session. Atlas is a little goofball who loves chasing balls and then going into the sploot position. He just graduated from Obedience Training on 10/1/23 and loves doing sniff work.
Atlas loves to chase and attack the water coming out of the hose in the yard and wants to be everyone's friend. Rarely does he bark at people or other dogs. If extreme cat and squirrel chasing were a sport, he'd be in the top 10 with the acrobatics he performs.
Atlas was neutered and then admitted to the VCA ER in Murrieta the same day. He was in critical condition with low blood platelets and proteins, severe dehydration, high fluid lose from both ends, and low blood pressure they struggled to stabilize. Emergency surgery was needed to remove an obstruction and had several complications.
My husband of 9 years decided to end our marriage in June. My family helped me buy a home with a yard big enough for my dogs. I'm on a fixed income where obedience training ($2500) for Atlas and neutering for Atlas and Apollo ($1600) were pushing the limits but necessary.
