About this campaign
I adopted Ava from the county shelter under the pretense she was a Dogo Argentino. Of course she is not a Dogo, but she definitely bonded with me the first time I went to visit her. The second time I went to the shelter, was the day I was going to bring her home. When they brought her out, my back was turned to her but she knew who I was. She jumped up to the counter to greet me.
Ava will fall asleep anywhere, but I discovered she has a love for plush indeed! Our favorite games have been “pull the tennis ball out of my mouth mommy” and tug-of-war. The concept of fetch hasn’t fully been understood. She runs to get the ball, and drops it near by then she comes back to me. We’re working on it! She definitely loves my parents, and select friends.
I will admit I did research on benefits of adopting a dog with heartworm. She is my first pet. I was hoping her treatment was on the lower end, but it turned out not to be. The cost was unexpected, but I want my little Ava to get better.
I adopted Ava with heartworm. She tested positive in February, and in April was adopted by a family and brought back after 2 months. Her heartworm had gone untreated. We’ve completed pre-treatment with antibiotics and heart guard. I’ll be taking her to Banfield Pet Hospital to be treated for both phases 1 and 2 by Dr. Kviten
Ava is both sweet and fierce. She is now my sleeping guard dog that follows me everywhere I go. One thing that makes me laugh about her how she leans to the right and turns her head left, then decides to plop down on the floor to welcome a belly rub. My little Ava gets excited to play and go outside, magically she is on her best behavior by no command.
