About this campaign

Avi came into my life as a kitten. I found her and her sister Ra online and immediately wanted to adopt them, even though the shelter was all the way in Jersey and I lived in Brooklyn. Unfortunately, Ra died of kidney failure when they were 7. Now Avi is 10 and she’s very sick. It’s a lot to handle, because Avi is my best friend. I can’t imagine a world without her.

A diaphragmatic hernia or rupture with involvement of some abdominal fat, the liver, and possibly part of the stomach is considered most likely. A pulmonary (lung) mass, whether this is a cancerous growth, granuloma (inflammation), or abscess (infection) involving the right lung, or some other kind of chest mass is also a possibility. The vet at All Ears Veterinary in Brooklyn goes on.

Avi is special because of her gentle, affectionate nature. She follows me everywhere, from room to room, always looking for pets. She even pets me back by licking my hand. When she thinks I'm not looking, she loves to play with her toy mice and chat with the birds outside the window. She's the perfect roommate.

I work in a restaurant and am attending law school. I have no savings and no emergency fund. The radiographs were very difficult to afford and now she needs more tests (CT scan) before they can know if surgery will save her or if all we can do is provide her pain medication.
