About this campaign
My (now ex) husband and I adopted Bandit and his sister Smokey in 2022 from SPOT animal rescue. They had been found in a junkyard as kittens. It took months to gain their trust, especially Bandit's, but now I go to sleep and wake up with a lap full of purring kitties. They are my solace after being blindsided by a divorce that left me with two pets, no partner and zero income.
This is an emergency. Bandit needs the emergency vet ASAP. I noticed this morning he hadn't spent the night curled on my legs, like normal. I looked and looked, and eventually found him hiding under the bed. He is refusing food, water, treats, toys, snuggles/pets/attention. He's not grooming himself. He's dehydrated, lethargic, only wants to hide, and looks like he's in a lot of pain.
Bandit is special to me because I'm the only person in the whole world he trusts. I spent years gaining that trust, and I really treasure it, and him. He never learned to meow like an adult, so his voice comes out high-pitched and squeaky, like a kitten. He knows his nickname (little mister) and will come to me for kisses when I ask him if he wants 'kisses for Bandit?'
The pressing financial need is divorce. I love my kitties. But I wouldn't have adopted them if I'd known I would be abandoned with two pets and zero support. I am disabled and extremely low income, and I lost at least 85% of our combined income in the divorce.
