Basil is a 2-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound in Lethbridge, AB, who needs $2,000 for Hospitalization, Blood Transfusion, Medication, GI Tube for Chronic Canine Hepatitis and Liver Disease.

We got Basil after losing people very close to us as a light to add to our lives. We were in darkness and the grief was seemingly never ending. She came to us, and from there our lives were given joy. She has stood beside us in our wedding, my own tumor treatment, and has been my greatest comfort and confidant during my pregnancy. We live in a comfortable home with a big yard in Alberta Canada.

Basil has always slept squarely in between us since she was 8 weeks old. Her fabourite toys are squishmallows, but she happily shares them with her little sister, Dill who we welcomed to our home April of 2023. They are inseparable. Basil currently loves to rest her head on my stomach and feel her newest little sister kick and isn't very far from me at all times.

Basil is sassy and stubborn beyond belief and will tell you when she feels she needs your attention and love. Her favourite foods are chicken, carrots, blueberries and sweet potato- but don't leave a plate unattended because she will take what she can get!

Basil started to lose weight and become jaundiced. We have paid over 2k in medical bills for us to come to the point she has needed to be hospitalised, as she has Canine Chronic Hepatitis. Her liver was in acute failure and other organs were effected. She was on deaths door, but has pulled through. 6k is our treatment bills to stabilize her. She will be on medication indefinitely but will survive!

I am on maternity leave, and am due with our first child May 7th, 2024. Basil has shown us she wants to fight but we have exhausted all of the money saved for our baby to pay for Basil's diagnostic testing. She's defied the odds time and time again.
