I rescued Bear in Asheville, NC about 3 years ago. It was an unusually cold winter in January and Bear was part of a small stray cat colony at the time. Several neighbors were concerned about the welfare of the cats and were teaming up to find homes for them. When I met Bear, I felt like there was an instant connection and I knew he was meant to be mine. We now live in warm, sunny Los Angeles.

Bear has very severe periodontal disease that requires x-rays and specialized dental treatment, as well as some bloodwork due to his age. The vet is treating this as an urgent matter due to the severity and the fact that Bear has lost weight. He was seen at Modern Animal in Los Angeles.

Bear has always been a very calm and tolerant cat. He loves cuddles and being petted. He spends most of his days sleeping and cuddling, but will often play at night when everyone is asleep. He's not a big fan of my child or my dog, but he tolerates them for the sake of cuddles with me! Bear is a warm and comforting presence and I want to do right by him.

I am an unemployed single mom in graduate school. While I am in school to try to build a better life for us all, right now we live with very little money. I have student loan debts and monthly utility bills that impact my ability to pay for all of what we need.
