Bear is my 5½‑year‑old Rottweiler and the heart of our family. I’ve loved him since he came home at five weeks old, a fluffy little “teddy bear.” He grew into the gentle leader of our four‑dog pack, always calm, loving, and comforting. He’s been with me through every high and low, and he means everything to us.

Bear has severe hip dysplasia and needs a total hip replacement on both hips to live without pain. His mobility is declining, and surgery at NC State’s Veterinary Hospital is his best chance at a happy, active life again. We’re doing everything we can to get him the care he needs.

Bear is my ride‑or‑die. He’s so full of energy, loves to play, and still acts like he is a big puppy. He always wants attention first and will stop at nothing to get it, he brings joy to everyone around him. When I leave the house, he waits patiently for me to come home. Our connection is truly special, and I don't ever want that to end.

Finances are tight right now. I have three kids starting college in August, my husband is out of work due to an injury, and I’m working full time to keep everything going. I want Bear to have the best quality of life possible without sacrificing our family’s responsibilities
