About this campaign

Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption got a panicked call that a pregnant Lab mix was at a Texas shelter that was about to pop! Bea was huge. The shelter was packed, and they would kill her because they did not want to deal with puppies being born in the facility.

"We had to literally race to her rescue to get her out of there. It was crazy," the rescue tells Waggle.

They sprung Bea, who went to one of the rescue's best puppy fosters. Then everyone got a huge surprise! X-rays showed Beatrice was likely to have about 15 puppies. This is one of the biggest litters in Lucky Lab history. The average litter (according to the internet) is about 5-6 puppies. The poor foster was like, "I'm blocking Lucky Lab's number in the future!"

Due to the large size of the litter, they brought her to Sunset Canyon Veterinary Clinic when Bea went into labor. Bea gave birth to two puppies, and then her labor became slow and she was tired. She was struggling, and there were a lot of puppies yet to be born. The medical team performed an emergency C-section and voila there were 15 puppies squealing and hungry. (Bea was also spayed at the time.)

Poor Bea woke up from surgery with a family of 15 to feed. She was like, "What the heck just happened?"

Lucky Lab is raising money to pay for Bea's surgery and care. She will also need heartworm treatment. She is high heartworm positive which is dangerous.

Lucky Lab is a nonprofit rescue. They say, "Sometimes in the rescue world, you have to 'leap and hope the net appears.' With Waggle as our rescue partner, we know we've got that safety net. Thank you!"
