Bella Cool Whip is a 22-month-old Great Pyrenees/Siberian Husky Mix in Sheboygan, WI, who needs $2,000 for Femoral Head Ostectomy.

In April 2020, Adopt a Pet emailed me about a perfect match 4-mo-old puppy for me—Bella Cool Whip. We had already adopted a puppy, but I had to peek. The day before Easter, we drove an hour to Jellystone Bark's Rescue Rangers to adopt Bella. Later, a DNA test showed she is 72% Great Pyrenees, 17% Siberian Husky & 11% Pit Bull (a breed I would never own & yet, I can’t imagine life without her).

Bella was the calming ingredient in our household when she arrived. She was the moon to the sun; she relaxed our Nash & added the needed companionship he was missing. She is the complete opposite of him--he likes to swim, she does not; he likes baths, she does not; he likes fetch, she does not. They both LOVE walks, though she really digs into her husky heritage & insists on being "sled" leader.

Bella loves to bury her face between our legs when greeting us or when she is scared; however, she has failed to realize how tall she has become. And when given a bone or toy that she doesn't want her brothers to get she'll try to "bury" it, but she never quite gets them buried to her liking (see video). Eventually she moves it. She loves Nash, but her best playmate & partner in crime is Duke.

Bella has severe Bilateral Hip Dysplasia, with the left nearly subluxated--(the hip joint is popping out of the socket & grinding creating bone splinters). She has a very narrow stance in the rear, a "swing" to her hind limb gait, shifts her weight to the forelimbs, and sever muscle atrophy in her back legs & paws. This year we spent 10+K at the vet for our 2 cats (who we lost to cancer) & 3 dogs. Bella's hip dysplasia laser treatments & medications alone cost about $850/mo. Bella is so young & playful, but the pain often prevents her from enjoying the same activities as her brothers.
