About this campaign
On the day we met Belli Button, I had come across a post that said "need homes today or will be put down." I hopped in the car and drove 2 hours to meet her at 10 o'clock at night. She was severely ill but I could not leave her there; she was the last puppy left and I knew that she was out of time. Belli Button went on to survive her malnutrition and tapeworm infestation with proper vet care.
When my daughter was a year old we knew that she was special. She was brilliant, milestones ahead of where she should ever be, and was deeply empathetic. She experienced life in a way that made it difficult to cope with emotions and was severely effected by every experience and change with in her routine. I set out to find her a best friend to help her manage and absorb her stressors.
Belli Button has slept with our daughter every night since, and rarely ever leaves her side. She's calm, sweet, and intuitive about my daughter's emotional and mental health. She has this perfect way of just sitting beside her when she's overwhelmed to wait for when her girl is ready for hugs, kisses, and support. Our daughter has been in a recurring spiral since the accident.
My 6 year old daughter's co-captain was seriously injured in a serious accident. She was extremely lucky to have survived however her injuries were severe. She had minor pelvic fractures, a large open wound on her left hind leg, and would need to have her right hind leg amputated. She now requires a TPLO and knee stabilization to save her remaining hind leg and maintain any quality of life.
