About this campaign
Meet Benny, a young cat who has already endured more pain and hardship than any animal should ever face. From the very beginning, Benny’s life was marked by tragedy. Born to an inexperienced young mother, a terrible accident happened while she was trying to care for her newborn kittens — Benny’s umbilical cord became wrapped around his tiny back foot, and in her attempt to remove it, she accidentally chewed the foot off.
Despite this devastating start, Benny survived. He spent his first months living outside around the home where he was born, cared for by a kind woman who fed the cats in the neighborhood. But when Benny was only about three months old, that woman sadly passed away, leaving him once again without stability or safety.
A neighboring woman stepped in and began caring for Benny and the other cats. Over time, Benny slowly learned to trust her enough to accept gentle pets and human kindness. But life outdoors remained dangerous. Once Benny reached maturity, other feral cats began attacking him repeatedly. His injuries became worse and worse, and despite every effort to help him heal, he continued to suffer.
Recently, one especially brutal attack left Benny’s tail severely injured and infected. Desperate to save him, the caregiver reached out to Cats’ Meow Rescue — and Benny was finally brought to safety.
Now in foster care, Benny is still frightened and unsure of the world around him, but even through his pain he shows incredible sweetness. He allows gentle affection and is beginning to understand that he is finally safe. Sadly, the damage to his body is extensive. After a full veterinary evaluation, it was determined that Benny will need both his injured tail and damaged back leg amputated in order to finally live without constant pain. He also needs neutering, combo testing, medications, and continued medical care as he recovers.
These surgeries will give Benny something he has never truly had before: a chance at a comfortable, happy life free from fear and suffering. Cats can adapt beautifully after amputations, and we know Benny has a bright future ahead once he is healed.
Your support will help cover Benny’s surgeries, pain management, diagnostics, and recovery care. Every donation — no matter the amount — brings this resilient boy one step closer to the safe, pain-free life he deserves.
After everything Benny has survived, we are determined to make sure the rest of his story is filled with comfort, love, and hope.

6/22/26 Update: Benny still needs help
Benny got to come out of his cage temporarily and he was living it up! He enjoyed being out and up on a table for his photo shoot.
He can move his tail but it has a kink and the vet will need to reassess it to be sure about the tail amputation (but leg amputation is for sure). He is still sensitive about anyone even trying to see his foot stub , so it’s surely still painful.
He is turning out to be quite the sweetie!
8/1/26 Update
It is with profound sadness that we share the news that our sweet Benny did not survive his surgery.
Everyone who met Benny was rooting for him. From the moment he was born, his life was filled with unimaginable hardship. He lost part of his back foot as a newborn in a tragic accident, grew up struggling to survive outdoors, lost the kind woman who had cared for him, and endured repeated attacks from other cats that left him with devastating injuries. Yet through it all, Benny never lost his gentle spirit.
After coming into the care of Cats' Meow Rescue, Benny finally experienced safety, regular meals, pain medication, and the kindness of people who loved him. Despite everything he had been through, he accepted gentle pets, purred, and slowly began to trust that he was finally safe.
Our veterinary team believed that amputating his damaged leg would give Benny the chance to live the pain-free life he had always deserved.
Sadly, despite every precaution and the best efforts of his surgeons, Benny suffered complications during surgery and passed away.
There are no words that can truly express how heartbreaking this loss is. We had all envisioned a future where Benny would recover, discover the joy of indoor life, and never have to worry about hunger, fear, or pain again. Instead, we must find comfort in knowing that his final days were filled with love, warmth, full meals, gentle hands, and people who fought for him until the very end.
While Benny's time with us was far too short, your generosity made an incredible difference. Because of your support, he received veterinary care, pain relief, diagnostics, and compassion that he would never have known had he remained on the streets. He was cherished, and he left this world knowing kindness instead of suffering alone.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in Benny and for giving him that priceless gift.
Please keep Benny's caregivers, foster family, and veterinary team in your thoughts as they grieve this tremendous loss. We know they are heartbroken.
Run free, sweet Benny. You were deeply loved, and you will never be forgotten.
