About this campaign
We drove several hours to pull 3 dogs from a shelter after they put out an SOS needing help because they were full. While there we also pulled Bentley because he was declining in the shelter. He had been there for months and was starting to lose weight and didn't seem to be interested in anything let alone food. So, we added him to our transport to see if we could make his life better.
Bentley is now in a foster home, trying to sleep in tiny dog beds rather than the large ones. It must make him feel better. He is no longer sleeping on the concrete in a shelter. He gets along with all his fur siblings in the foster home. He is gentle, quiet and acts very grateful to be out of the shelter.
Bentley ended up in the shelter from a hoarding situation. Since we pulled him from the shelter, he has been such a happy boy. He no longer looks depressed. He is learning what treats and toys are all about. He makes us so happy now to see him enjoying a dog bed and having a look of relief rather than worry.
We immediately took him to our vet. Lab work confirmed several medical issues. He is Lyme positive, heartworm positive, was full of whip and hookworms and underweight. He was started on a medical treatment plan to get him feeling better. He then had some GI issues. He has an enlarged prostate. He will be weaned off Prednisone to be neutered and then restart treatments.
We are a 501c3 with 100% volunteers. We rely on donations. All animals are in foster homes so we have minimal overhead. Donations go directly to animal care instead of utilities and building maintenance.
