About this campaign

My 15 year old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes April 27, 2020. She has always wanted a dog. This year has been challenging with covid and diabetes. I finally gave in. We got a Maltipoo and named her Berkley. We are so grateful for Berkley and wonder how we have been without a pet for so long. She brings so much joy and laughter in our lives. She also is an ESA for my daughter.

Berkley has a very peaceful, playful, loving spirit. Very inquisitive, loves to be around people and to be a part of everything that we do. She loves car rides. They put her to sleep. If she hears the slightest movement of keys, she will run to the door, ready to leave. She loves to go on walks and loves to meet new people along the way.

I am a single mom of 2 girls. We fell in love with Berkley the day we met her at 8 weeks old. She is now 5 months old. We really want to help Berkley's quality of life to be lived to the fullest potential without having to worry when she will start to suffer from PDA.

Berkley has PDA (heart mur mur) On a scale of 1-6, with 6 being the worst, she is at a 5. The doctor says her life span is anywhere from 2-6 years and that it is imperative that she gets surgery ASAP. Surgery is corrective (it will fix her 100%) and she will live a long healthy life without any heart problems. Surgery will be done at Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University.

Berkley is so funny, all the time. She loves to play with ice. She gets it in her mouth and throws it around and growls and barks at it playfully. She also does that with our socks. While we play with her, she will interchange her toys out with us because she loves to play with every toy that she has.
