About this campaign
Bettis is a rescued sharpei that my husband's, Derek, fostered when she was a few months old. She was emaciated and scared, but in the few years we've had her, she is the most loving and sweetest dog anyone could ask for. After not being adopted, we decided to adopt the little fireball she is last year. The night of 2-14-20, we noticed she was walking funky and was "tiptoeing." We decided to nix our valentine's day dinner and take her to an emergency vet. They diagnosed her with Intervertebral disc disease and sent us home with medicine and strict crate confinement for 4-8 wks. We woke up this morning to find that she had lost all function in her back legs. She could not walk at all. We took her to a neurologist and she is being prepped for emergency surgery to fix what they believe is a herniated disc that ruptured. We applied for care credit and got approved for 5k, but as you can see from the invoice, we still have about 3k left on the bill. Derek and I are military vets. He was a prior cop in NC and I am a trauma nurse. We are proud people who have worked hard for what we have, and hate asking for any help with anything. However, after moving to AZ a few months ago, and trying to catch up on bills, we sadly have to admit that we are defeated on this one. With heavy hearts, we kindly ask for any and all help now. If you could please share this and get the word out, we need help to make sure our Bettis comes home.
